18 new small friends born today!

Big Day tomorrow! After my last 2 ducks recovered from their injuries, Eve, my last female duck started laying again. I took 10 of her eggs to keep the line going, and incubated them.

Yes. I had 16 Khaki Campbell ducks and in a few short hours a mink unalived 14 of them. The 2 remaining ducks were a male and a female pair. I named them Adam and Eve. Tomorrow is the 28th day of incubation. Am excited.

Beekeeping update 2026. Cleaned, unwrapped, and feeding the bees with some 1:1.

The bees are finding bright yellow pollen from somewhere.

Mite strips installed too. (30 day treatment)

Baby duck’s first day outside in the sunshine and out of the confines and smell of their brooder.

Bought 24 eggs from Duckopolis and only 3 eggs were viable. One egg was mine, and it was first to hatch Her name is Jenny. Daughter of Eve. My only surviving girl.

Duckopolis hasn’t responded to my messages. Not good business tactics.

This year, I promise to restart this page.
I lost 14 beautiful ducks to a mink so I am starting over with a new hatch.

I bought 24 hatching eggs from Duckopolis - if which only 8 didn’t rot. Bad batch.

Crossing fingers that I have something hatch.

There’s something to be said about a guy that can bake honey bread with his own harvest of honey. Pumpkin pie from homegrown pumpkins and pizza from 00 scratch.

Nothing like the homesteader life.
