Have you tried putting bitters in your baking? ✨🍪 It’s a great way to add flavour without sacrificing volume or offsetting the liquid ratio.

I have started experimenting with this after being put onto the idea from the rad bakers at

This was a mixed berry (raspberry and blueberry) muffin recipe and I added about 1/2 a teaspoon of the Coffee and Cardamon bitters to the batter (recipe made 12 muffins… many were gone by the time I got to this photo!). I thought it would pair well with the berries without taking over. The flavour was there but not as punched up as I was hoping so next time I’d up it to 1 teaspoon. Still a fun experiment and I look forward to trying it in breads next! 🥖🥖🥖 If you’ve tried bitters in baking Id love to hear about your experience.

Filberg Festival! 🥳🥳🥳We are overjoyed to be able to enjoy another wonderful weekend at Filberg Fest. Last for Rootside! Our last market for Rootside will be at Filberg Festival next weekend. Our bitters will carry on however our tonic syrups will not be restocked. All that are left of the syrups are available at our online shop!

We wanted to take this time to thank everyone who supported us on this journey with the tonic syrups, they were the start of Rootside and will always have a place in our hearts. We are excited to look towards the future as we develop more cocktail and beverage creations! Cheers y’all and keep your eyes on the page for more exciting updates!

Did you know all the lavender we use in our Cardamom & Citrus Tonic Mix and Lavender Tonic Bitters is grown and dried in the Cowichan Valley here on Vancouver Island? The kitchen smells incredible right now!!! Finally got more glass bottles in, so making our tonic water mix as fast as we can!!
