The Smart Sip Cream Co. CEO

The Smart Sip Cream Co. CEO I’m Ashlyn 👋 a 🇨🇦 nutrition coach and founder of Smart Sip Cream Co., my calorie-friendly, fiber-rich creamer. This is why I created Smart Sip.

I’m Sask born & raised 🌾 currently living on Vancouver Island📍 As a nutrition coach who has helped more that 700 people reach their health and weight loss goals over the last 8 years, I saw a hole in the food & beverage industry for simple, fiber-rich foods to help people reach their fiber goals. Smart Sip is a calorie-friendly, fiber-rich coconut oil powdered creamer that was designed to help peo

ple reach their goals. More than 90% of people don’t get enough fiber in and that plays a huge role in their health and weight loss goals. Sugary drinks that people consume leave them crashed out, struggling with their energy levels and elevating their hunger. She wanted to create a product that still gave them that delicious drink without all of the nasty side-effects. Smart Sip can be enjoyed in coffee, tea, smoothies, shakes, yogurt, pancake & waffle mix, Creamis, ice cream or pudding so you can reap it's benefits even if you aren't a coffee drinker.

I've been very transparent on my stories each week how my market season has been going this summer, and no shocker it didn't get any better by the end.

I'm only 16 months into my business and while that is still BRAND new, I'm also at a point where I feel I can scale back on the markets and just start doing a handful each year. This means I can spend my time growing Smart Sip in other ways, such as expanding my retail reach.
You will never learn more about your business then when it's boots on the ground, having thousands of people sample your product in front of you. It's helped me see what people love and where I can improve. And at the end of the day, serving up the best product that ! can is the most important!

I'm off to Saskatchewan again in September for the which is ALWAYS a fabulous time and then potentially one back on the island in October before I finalize the few that I'll be attending for the Christmas season around Victoria. That means only potentially 5 more markets for 2026 which is crazy since last Christmas I did 6 weeks back-to-back alone.
Watching your business grow is neat, I can't wait to see what it looks like in 2027!

As a child of the 80’s we were exposed to some pretty wild diet culture that left things MORE than confusing on how to lose weight properly.

I spent my entire 20’s and early 30’s being influenced by every single shred of weight loss advice that was thrown at me until I educated myself on what actually worked.

Once I learned it could be done enjoyably and sustainably with balance was when people started to ask me what I had done and that’s how my coaching business was born. I became certified and teaching people how to ditch all of garbage advice we had been subjected to.

My almost decade as a nutrition coach gave me the insight I needed to create Smart Sip to help people fill a gap that was consistently lacking in almost everyone - tasty fiber!

While I no longer take nutrition clients, I still love to share the journey and give people useful little nuggets that might help inspire them ❤️

This was the biggest piece of advice I would give my nutrition clients.

No processed sugar in the morning. It pulls your body out of fat burning mode to use the sugar by raising your blood sugar.

The best thing you can do for yourself is try to regulate your blood sugar as best as possible.

Minimizing sugar and increasing fiber and protein will help! Not to mention it will help regulate your energy levels as well 🙌🏼

People have gotten so insanely obsessed with protein that they have forgotten about everything else. This was the exact recipe I would give me nutrition clients for their goals:

X amount of calories (depending on their goal)
30% of those calories for protein
Pre-plan 30-40g of protein rich foods and each meal first
Then pre-plan in the foods that are going to help you reach 25-35g of fiber
Use whatever is left over for whatever scratches your itch.
Don’t worry as much about specific carb or fat grams (but the caveat to that is to stay above 40g of fat daily).
And as long as you’re within +/- 50 calories of your goal you’re golden 🙌🏼

Seriously, people over-complicate things way too much. If you’re not a competitive athlete you do not need to be stressing yourself about hitting exact macros.

I was tired of seeing people struggle to get more fiber in their diet. Seeing them have processed sugar to start their day. Watching them give them up because the thought of adding one more habit into their already full schedule was impossible.

Reaching your goals is already hard enough so why not make it a little easier? And that was my exact thought process when I spent 15 months doing research and development on Smart Sip. There were some prototypes that weren’t creamy enough, that were chalky, that were too high calorie, that simply didn’t taste good enough. I wanted it to be something that people looked forward to using. Added some simplicity to their life and actually gave them some benefits.

It’s been 2.5 years now since I took that first step in creating it and never looked back. Slowly growing Smart Sip into becoming a household name ❤️

The first 12 months of Smart Sip were the definition of scrappy. And I miss that boat every single day 😂 🇨🇦
