Still storing food in plastic bags and containers?
Microplastics are now being found throughout the human body, including the brain, arteries, ovaries, and testicles. Researchers are also raising concerns about their potential role as endocrine disruptors that may interfere with normal hormone function.
Many people assume the risk only comes from heating plastic, but both heat and cold can contribute to plastic breakdown. Microwaving food in plastic bags or containers can increase the release of plastic particles and chemicals, while freezing, repeated use, and normal wear can also cause plastics to shed tiny fragments over time.
One of the simplest changes you can make is switching to glass whenever possible. Store leftovers in glass containers, use glass meal-prep containers, and avoid heating food in plastic.
A small change in your kitchen today may mean less plastic exposure tomorrow. π±π₯£
