Homestead off 83 A hobby homestead located outside of Virden MB. Breeding Silver Fox & Palomino Rabbits, Heritage Chickens, Guinea Fowl, Coturnix Quail, Cayuga & Muscovy Ducks.

Breeding our rabbits haven't gone quite as planned so far this spring but we do have a 2 week old litter of Silver Foxes on the ground currently. You may not tell but there are 5 little kits in that nesting box.

The Real Prairie Rabbit Club had their spring show this past weekend in Portage La Prairie, MB. We haven't posted much mainly as we were busy getting ready. Chelsy is on the board and was busy getting things organized that way. We also had to get our rabbits ready and plan who was going to attend.

Basically everyone who went to Bruderhiem was set to go this weekend because they were unable to collect any legs. We were the only breeder of Silver Fox in attendance at Bruderhiem unfortunately. One Silver Marten stayed home as she will be expecting soon, and one junior Silver Fox took her place in our carriers.

The junior is the kit that was shown is out of our doe Faith that was registered at Farm Fair last fall. It was a great show with over 100 rabbits. And other Silver Fox breeders were there 😊 so ARBA legs can be awarded. Our Silver Foxes had a good showing with our junior getting best of breed in one show, the intermediate buck taking best of breed two out of three shows and Grace (a senoir doe) taking best opposite in two of the shows.

Grace should receive her fourth leg, first leg as a senior, from this weekend. So now we can start the process of getting her registered and then send her paperwork away to receive her Grand Champion Certificate 🏆.

Our Silver Martens also had a good show but were the only ones in attendance. The senoir doe Snug did get some mentions during the best in show tabling.

It was great to see everyone who made it out especially our friends that came all the way out from Alberta.

Well we are still a week out of putting the nesting box in, but someone is eager to get things done. We have a couple Silver Fox does bred as well as one of our palomino does. Hope to get one more breeding in before a pause for the summer heat. Keep watch for some litter arrivals. 🐇🐇🐇😊

Well the wait is over. 🥳🐇🐇🐇
We are excited to announce we once again have Silver Martens on the homestead. We purchased a trio out of Washington. With the help from Svelte Rabbitry for bringing them back and caring for "the little Holsteins" until we could meet and pick them up at the Bruderheim show. They are now home and settling in nicely.

The breed we are adding to our barn is in this photo that Cactus Rose Rabbitry Fallon Belisle took during our road trip home this past Monday from E.A.R.S. - Edmonton & Area Rabbit Society Wild Rose Classic in Bruderheim

Stay tuned as we will reveal the breed on Monday and introduce them.

Our results from the show will be posted this coming week, just have been busy with our day jobs and dealing with some very interesting weather this week.

Some of you know (🤫 don't spoil it for others plz), a good amount of you don't. This past weekend I managed to pick up a breed J has been eyeing up for a LONG time, all thanks to our awesome rabbit family for transporting!

We'll be posting teaser photos of the rabbits for the next few days. All will be revealed Monday.

Until then feel free to try and guess the breed.
