Chef on Call was a late-night delivery operation that started in a student apartment
back in 2009 and has developed into a brand featuring burgers, wraps, sandwiches,
poutine, chicken tenders and wings, sides, shakes and desserts. From that first
Montreal location, now on Avenue du Parc near Sherbrooke Street West, there are also
spots on Waterloo and London, Ontario, with Ottawa soon on the way. People can eat
in, order delivery, take-out and do it all in Montreal until 4 am. Robert Kaufmann is the
co-founder. His dad Irwin works hand in hand with him. Most recently
Summit School Montreal, the city’s leading English-sector school for neurodiverse students,
honored the Kauffmans and Chef on Call for their 11 year commitment to the institution.
Over that time Chef on Call has welcomed 36 Summit students to do internships,
helping them develop valuable workplace skills. Today, five of these individuals have
been hired. Summit also thanks Chef on Call for donating meals and providing gift
cards to families in need. In addition, they have sold student-made brownies in the
restaurant. Our Mike Cohen dropped by to speak with irwinkauffman about the
award.
