Red Angus & Simmental & Percentage
next Annual Bull Sale March 24th, 2026

Karl & Kristine Sauter began raising registered Red Angus cattle together in 2008. The registered Simmental cows joined in 2012, followed by the arrival of commercial SimAngus females in 2016. Bridgeway Livestock's page exists to share what's going on with the herd, share updates on the Working Stiff's Bull sale, and promote the cattle industry.

October 21st, 2026 | (always) building for the future

The strength of our bred heifer division has been quietly and steadily building over the years. Our current roster of bred heifers are pretty consistent in type and kind, regardless of breed or color. We strive to select for, and continue to produce: fertile, sound, sweet-tempered prospects that thrive in our environment and rise to our standards. They need to breed inside a 60 day interval, and re-breed in that timeline for a decade or more, with the skills and structure to bring in a calf every fall.

Next week, we'll have a halter on two bred heifers, in Brandon at Manitoba Ag-Ex. They'll represent the type we've been working at producing, and we can't wait for you to see them.

(No, unfortunately we will not be offering any bred females for sale this season. We're far too attached to them at this point!)

In honor of all the show ring commentary we’re about to hear as we enter the fall run, how about a bit of love for our absolute favorite individual around Bridgeway:

October 14th, 2026 | country roads, take me home..

The final remaining pasture groups moved a bit closer to headquarters this week. On our route today, we passed a pasture full of neighbor's cattle, a silage crew in a bumper crop of corn, several stubble fields, and a few fields with iron parked waiting on better conditions. The weather was beautiful and the views were spectacular. I'm not sure there could be a more peaceful way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.

October 7th, 2026 | family farming?

By most descriptions, Bridgeway is a family farm. Especially with our second gen little rancher at side.

But there are several more players on our team that aren’t actually related to the three of us, and we certainly couldn’t be carrying the weight of 2026’s harvest with out our friends that feel like family. (At posting, our fleet is still in a canola field)

Brent continues to ‘ride for the brand’, putting in long hours and leading the morale boosting & advice giving efforts. Brad has tackled more projects than usual, proving he is more than just ‘a grain cart guy’. Casey has stepped up to shifting gears in the big trucks, when she isn’t moisture testing grain samples or washing equipment. Jiggy and Glen both took time away to support us in whatever we’ve needed, just because they’re great friends. Erica has been chuteside, comb in hand, prepping calves. Gil baled straw that would have seen rain on the same day the Porter boys kept a combine moving for us. Wade joined in on a rainy day header shopping mission. Jo & Teresa took turns entertaining Natalie so we could load a billion square bales. Denver and Maggie pitched in to trail cows. Tim continues to be just a call away and always keen for a road trip.

Thank you.

When we look around at the projects completed (and those still in progress), we’re dang sure aware we didn’t accomplish them alone. And our hope is that other farms trudging through harvest this season find the help they need, to stretch the calendar and get the work done. And, if you’re spending Thanksgiving in a field this weekend, may your Tupperware be loaded with an extra slice of pumpkin pie.

Cheers, from our family to yours.

September 30th, 2026 | stubble snackin’

When we grew our farm’s footprint in 2023, this quarter was certainly an exciting one to purchase. The rolling landscape features plenty of shelter and forage in lower areas, shares electric fence with our main yard, and overlooks the ‘shack’ {a local trail ride attraction nestled in the road allowance on the southwest edge of our home section}.

2026 saw a bumper crop of oats out here, followed by quick team efforts to get around the fence line (and to fence off our grain bags..) so these mature, freshly weaned females could enjoy the space.

May 12, 2026 | bull delivery season

Where has the time gone? Spring has certainly 'sprung' in the RM of Walpole, as we find ourselves loading up to deliver the last few bulls to their new homes. Making the miles to send our bulls off is truly so rewarding every year; we have the privilege of meeting families, touring cattle, and seeing a bit of the country side.

'Thank you' will never be enough; we're so very grateful to everyone who has shown interest, bid, and selected a bull from our program this season!

Stop in for a tour anytime; we can't wait to host you!

Always open to visitors and fresh new opportunities,
