Meet Sarwan Gidda, the patriarch and foundational visionary behind TBA Farms.

Born in October 1953, Sarwan arrived in the Okanagan Valley following the groundwork laid by his father, Mehtab Gidda, who immigrated to Canada from Punjab, India, in 1958. In 1963, the family purchased their initial farm property in West Kelowna, becoming the first Indo-Canadian family to settle in the community. Through decades of relentless labor, they established Gidda Orchards, which expanded into the largest apple-producing operation in the area and stands today as TBA Farms.

In 1978, Sarwan and his wife, Sudarshana, expanded the family business into viticulture by planting their first grapevines. This initiative laid the foundation for future regional landmarks, including the co-founding of Mount Boucherie Estate Winery in 2000 and the launch of Volcanic Hills Estate Winery in 2010.

Today, the business represents a multi-generational legacy. While his daughter, Christina Tumber, manages operations at TBA Farms, and his sons, Bobby and Amit Gidda, direct leadership at Volcanic Hills, Sarwan remains actively tied to the earth. At over 70 years of age, he can still be found out in the fields every day, down in the dirt on his hands and knees, tending to the crops and ensuring the land receives the same direct care it has for more than six decades.

Every produce harvested at TBA Farms is a direct result of this lifelong commitment to West Kelowna agriculture. Sarwan and the entire Gidda family extend their sincere gratitude to our community, partners, and loyal customers who have supported our agricultural operations across four generations.
