There’s nothing quite like spending a sunny afternoon outdoors and picking fresh fruit right off the tree! 🧺 Local farms open their orchards so we can enjoy a true hands-on farm experience.

When we visit a U-pick orchard, we are guests on a working family farm. To help keep our favourite spots open and thriving for everyone, here are 5 quick tips for being a great farm guest:

1. Check Before You Go - Mother Nature runs on her own schedule! Check the farm’s page or call ahead to see what is ripe and available that day.

2. Ask for a Quick Lesson - Ask staff for a quick demonstration so you can pick fruit without damaging the tree.

3. Respect Orchard Signs & Boundaries – These are working farms and have active machinery, young trees, and ripening crops. Staying in designated rows keeps everyone safe and preserves the trees.

4. Pack a Cooler - Fresh fruit can be sensitive to heat. Bring a small cooler with ice packs to keep your harvest fresh on hot days.

5. Spread the Kindness - Farmers work hard to share their land. A quick word of thanks goes a long way and be sure to let others know about the farms and orchards you visited!
