Most of our posts are of Cows and grandchildren but on Tuesday while I was closing gates for Gary after feeding cows, I noticed one of the horses had something standing next to her. Not sure if maybe she was by a tree or one of the other ponies may have been just laying down my here I took out my camera and zoomed in (the horses are in a different pasture) and to my surprise there was a foal❤️ I have always been a sucker for foals and this was no exception. I have been informed I better get that excited when the cows start calving in January. Momma is the black mare Bella and daddy is the little welsh pony Peanut Butter. Other horse is Blue and the paint is Polka. She may be bred as well but until she drops a foal on the ground she is just always that big and always has a bag.

We got HeyHey last August and she has never let anyone touch her unless we run her down the alley way and put the hater on her there. Today was a huge accomplishment. She started following me around the cow pen while we were doing chores. Tomorrow I’ll take some treats out for her and see if she will take them.

What a nice surprise ❤️Thank you to whomever nominated our Farm and congrats to all the other nominees!

Well Gary decided to do something. He talked with his business partner long and hard as she hates Red Cows. He was blessed to keep the one we have as long as she keeps having nice babies. But the two of them studied bull catalogues long and hard had many discussions and when she said alright Papa I trust you, we took the day off work and drove down to Anchor D bull sale and not only did we buy a bull it was red. Gary was wanting to get a bit more thickness and length back in his calves. We would like to introduce Nemo to our herd. We also bought a new Black Angus bull from Atlasta Angus. We did go down and look at him before hand, and then had to bid online as Em had a dance recital and she sternly informed her mom if Papa is going to the bull sale so am I. She named him Don.

We are excited to see the calves that come from these two.

Now back to calving season I go. We are 25% done as of today. Pics of all the babies will come shortly.

We had a busy weekend. Emberlynn has a dance recital the day of the Atlasta Bull sale so we had to go look at bulls. She has a couple picked out for her Papa to bid on since he can’t go to the sale without her. It will be the first sale she has missed in her 5 years.

It’s been a few since we have posted! We have have a wonderful 2025 year some gains and some very hard loses. But we carry on strong as a family.

Petryshen Farms is now 4 Generations and our granddaughters are very much interested in the cows but have a love for the horses just like Nana. They have started Gymkhana and rodeo. We thought as our kids became adults we would have more time on our hands, boy we were wrong between the 2 little girls we are busy.

I took my first trip acros Canada to New Brunswick ( first long flight) to visit my niece and her family.

We also had the honour of sponsoring the Long Island Light Horse Association Gymkhana series awards for the kids. We were unable to attend but our son Austen did a great job.

We lost Gary’s father to cancer at the end of October. He was 2nd Generation and we bought the farm from him. I will miss all the lessons taught by him and all the bear hugs given. Ther will be a huge hole in our lives and hearts without him. ❤️❤️

As we gear up for upcoming calving season starting in January we know Don will be watching over us.

We want to send heartfelt appreciation to all that have reached out over the last few weeks.

Everyone has noticed we have been changing our profile pics and cover photos to Em Tuff and pics of her.

Here is a post from her mommy Lexie Drevant that’s explains why.

“ I am going to try and keep this short but that will be very hard specially when it comes to my little girl!! The reason I'm deciding to share this is because Miss Em has a world of people who love her more then ever and it's very hard for me to get back to everyone with the news we have gotten again!
Emberlynn Byer-Drevant was born on November 2nd, 2020.
Those who know her, know she is the sweetest, most caring, fun-loving little farm kid. She's the best big sister to her brother Raymond (Bobo), her new baby brother Branson (CoCo) and her other siblings as well. She is also obsessed with cows, horses and her chickens. She loves swimming, soccer, dance and many more activities!!
At her 2 year checkup, the doctor noticed a heart murmur and she was referred to a cardiologist at the Stollery. She has seen 2 specialists and has been diagnosed with Subaortic Stenosis, a condition where there is a blockage or narrowing at the outlet of the left ventricle of the heart. This condition makes it hard for the left ventricle to pump blood to the rest of the body. The specialists have decided that she needs surgery to repair the ventricle in her heart. Around October 20th 2023 we received a phone call from the Stollery telling us that Emberlynn's open heart surgery is booked for this Monday, October 23rd 2023! Em went for surgery and did amazing.
Saying kids are resilient is an understatement when it came to her recovery! After her 6 week check up we were told she looks amazing and we don't need to come back for a year!
November 27th 2024 Em had her one year appointment... and unfortunately we didn't get the best news and results. We were told that the blockage is back and the doctor couldn't believe it because normally if it ever comes back it's normally not for multiple years. But sadly Em's was back. We discussed that it wasn't 100% enough to rush her for another surgery and they wanted to see us back every four months to monitor it. To continue to give her little body a break from her surgery she had just a year ago.
March 12th 2025 we were seen again for her four month check.... And again did not get great results.. we were now told that the blockage of the valve has caused a leak in her aorta. It is still at a stage where they can go in and fix the blockage as well as repair the leak. But this does mean another open heart surgery asap because if we wait and the leak increases it won't be something they can fix. Tuesday March 18th 2025 her doctor called us and said he has talked to her surgeon and they both have agreed this surgery needs to be done asap she has been put onto something called the priority 1 list which means she will be going for surgery within the month. Em has her dental appointment this week and then early next week we will be getting a call for more surgery details.
We would all like to say thank you for all the love and support we have and also a big thank you to how amazing the stollery is...We will continue to keep everyone updated on an exact date and details!

We wannna thank all you for your continued prayers and kind words. Miss Em has told me it’s ok nana I’m Em tuff and I’ll get through this! So with her being so strong we will be as well! ❤️❤️”
