Linkert Country Bakery

Linkert Country Bakery A country bakery founded by Murray(Pappy)Linkert, and Janet Barker, specializing especially in fruitcake,as well as other 'made'-from-scratch' goodies.

As of Thanksgiving 2017, there is no longer a "formal" store onsite. However, our fruitcake is almost always available; if that's what you're after, call ahead or take a chance on dropping by!

For anyone who’s ordered cake, I’ll be there today between 1 and 4 p.m. if you want to enjoy a good driving day!( if not we can arrange other times and/or local folks, I may be able to drop yours off)
Enjoy that sun!

For everyone on this site who've indicated they'd like a cake, looking good to provide them! Just have to co-ordinate your pickups over the next couple of weeks so leave a message on my landline---may take a bit but I'll get back to you all. Thanks again!

Happy to let you know that ingredients have arrived so both Fruitcake and Cherry Cake will be available by pre-order, subject to availability! As in previous years, it's a 2 lb. cake cut and individually wrapped in 2 pieces. (Sorry but the original boxes are no longer available so a basic shipping box is substituted)
Holding the cost to last year's $30.00 per cake plus shipping, unless you're able to pick up at our location near Wilberforce. Very flexible pickup times must be pre-arranged, as no formal 'store' hours are available.
Thanks so much to everyone for your interest and support!

Thanks for the question re: "Are you making cake?!?" Very late to be so uncertain BUT, though securing supplies has been difficult these last few years, it's really a challenge in 2023. Still trying and will confirm either way when there's a definite yes or not. Again, your interest and patience (as well as your past support) is greatly appreciated!

Last fall the weather had my months running late....supposed to be spring now, but still 'missed' an important day yesterday. March 31st. was the birthday of my business partner and dear friend of many, Murray 'Pappy' Linkert. Founder of course of The Linkert Fruitcake, this bakery and several others along life's journey. Not just a creative guy who so enjoyed baking, also a lover of creating beauty in gardens, dancing by the ovens, and lots of laughter. Before many of us knew him, he served almost 10 years as a pilot in the RCAF; yet another passion. A larger, kinder heart you'd be hard to find anywhere, for those he cared for, as well as complete strangers.
Such a well-lived, full life! Always remembered and sorely missed, Papp---till we meet again.

Our beautiful weather has tricked my perception---it's almost November! As in the last few years we are offering our fruitcake only on an individual basis, picked up at our location or shipped to your home. And yes, the increased costs which we are all aware of, are necessitating a raise in price to $30.00. That's for a 2 lb. cake, cut and individually wrapped in 2 pieces. Good news is: No reduction in quality, right down to still being marinated in cherry liqueur, as one customer already wanted to know! Have a very limited number of boxes on hand, so if you can live with the cello overwrap alone, that's greatly appreciated!
Also "baking to order", so call or email your order a.s.a.p. Payment by etransfer, cheques by arrangement.

Seems like both yesterday and forever since we said goodbye to Pappy.....thinking of him especially as it was 12 years ago on this day that he left us. So much has changed since then, of course. So many times we've been reminded of his sayings, laughed at great memories, smelled his cigar, really felt his presence. To say his impact on this world, to so many people in so many ways was huge, is no overstatement. Are you creating beautiful gardens, flying fast jets or on 'the heavenly oven'? No doubt making people laugh and compassionately looking out for everyone else, just as you did on earth. Always remembered and missed. "We'll meet again", dear friend.

"A thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices. For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn!" Weary is a word we can all relate to right now. May you know this "thrill of hope" as offered in "O Holy Night"---it's real and it's for each one of us, no matter who we are or what our life has been or now is...the Jesus whose birth we celebrate grew to be One who brings the glorious morn; just speak His Name and find out for yourself, simple as the love of a baby.

Thanks to everyone who've purchased fruitcake this season! That 'last-minute rush' means the cardboard is pretty much bare---Sorry if you've missed out but can't take any more orders....hope all who did receive theirs find them enjoyable.
Merry Christmas, stay well and safe all.... God Bless!

Happy because I was finally able (hopefully!) to replace an unintentional "sad" emojii with this "happy" one(technology ohboy!) But also wanted to remind everyone we are almost into December (wow!) and to let you know we still have a few fruitcake on hand if you were thinking of having one or some shipped to you. If you are close enough to pick up here at our shop, pickup arrangments are quite flexible, just call to arrange: 705-448-2455 or email [email protected]
Drive safe, stay well!

Good news is: Have some fruit and cherry cake ready to ship and/or pick up.
"Further news": Have somewhat limited number of boxes so if you can get by without one, really appreciate you accepting your cake in the cello overwrap alone. Hopefully that way, any being given or sent as gifts will be able to have a box supplied(please specify when you order and I'll do my best!)
Again, price is $25.00 plus shipping or curbside pickup as arranged, Covid protocols apply. 705-448-2455.
Thanks!
