This video is from earlier in the spring , you can see all of the different colored pollen that the bees have collected and turned into bee bread. They mix it with a bit of nectar and store if this way before feeding it to the young larva. The other pictures are of a carpenter bee that we were sent this year from someone looking for support with a bee problem they were having.

This weekend we had some friends in town and we were able to get them out to visit the bees. We've had a slow start to the season this year but our team has expanded a bit. We've combined efforts with another new beekeeper and it looks like it's going to be a great year for us. Although we are currently out of honey for sale we hope to have lot's ready to go by the fall. We've also been practicing our candle making so we hope to have lots available at that time.

The male bee is is holding in the one picture had a varroa mite attached to him. You can see it on its own in the next picture. This is one of the largest threats to honey bees in an effort to have healthier bees we have been really focusing on mite management as a top priority this year.
