🚨 CORNELL IS UNDER THE MICROSCOPE. AND NOW, THE REAL QUESTIONS BEGIN.

Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates has promised an independent review of Cornell’s handling of s*xual assault allegations, campus policing, and fraternity oversight. But with Cornell trustees overseeing the review and questions surrounding fraternity exemptions and alleged police connections, one question looms large: WILL THE PUBLIC SEE THE FULL TRUTH?

No findings have been released. The allegations remain unverified.

THE INVESTIGATION IS ONE TEST. TRANSPARENCY IS THE NEXT. 👀

BROCK TURNER IS REPORTEDLY GOING BY A DIFFERENT NAME, HAS RECEIVED A PROMOTION, AND HAS PURCHASED A HOME IN HIS OHIO HOMETOWN

📍 Stanford, California / Oakwood, Ohio

If you’re unfamiliar with Brock Turner or need a refresher, his case became one of the most widely discussed examples of public outrage over how the justice system handles s*xual assault cases involving privileged men.

In January 2015, Turner was a 19-year-old Stanford University freshman and a standout swimmer. Before attending Stanford, he had been a three-time All-American swimmer at Oakwood High School near Dayton, Ohio. On January 17, he attended a party at the Kappa Alpha fraternity house, where he encountered a 22-year-old woman who was not a Stanford student. She had attended the party with her younger sister.

In the early hours of the following morning, two Swedish graduate students cycling past the fraternity house noticed Turner on top of the woman behind a dumpster. She was lying motionless. When the men intervened, Turner fled, but they chased him down and restrained him until police arrived. The woman was unconscious and later woke up in a hospital with no recollection of what had happened.

Turner was subsequently charged and brought to trial. In March 2016, a jury found him guilty of three felony counts related to s*xually assaulting an unconscious, intoxicated woman. Although he faced a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison, prosecutors sought a six-year sentence.

On June 2, 2016, Santa Clara County Judge Aaron Persky sentenced Turner to six months in county jail, followed by three years of probation. The judge cited the severe impact a prison sentence could have on Turner. Public outrage intensified after Turner’s father, Dan Turner, submitted a letter to the court arguing that his son should not have to suffer such serious consequences for what he described as “20 minutes of action.”

However, one of the most powerful moments of the case came from the survivor herself. She delivered a roughly 7,000-word victim impact statement addressed to Turner in court. Her words spread rapidly online, reaching millions of people within days and eventually being read aloud on the floor of Congress. For years, she was identified publicly only as “Emily Doe.” In 2019, she revealed her identity as Chanel Miller and published her bestselling memoir, Know My Name.

Turner served approximately three months in jail before being released on September 2, 2016, for good behavior. He returned to Ohio and was required to register as a s*x offender for life. USA Swimming issued him a lifetime ban, and his appeal was rejected in 2018.

The case also had significant consequences beyond Turner’s conviction. In June 2018, California voters recalled Judge Persky, marking the first recall of a California judge in more than 80 years. California also enacted legislation requiring prison sentences for certain s*xual assaults involving unconscious or intoxicated victims, restricting the possibility of a sentence like the one Turner received.

Now, new reporting has brought Turner back into the public conversation.

According to the Daily Mail, Turner is now 31 and is reportedly using his middle name, Allen. After his conviction, he returned to Ohio and initially lived with his parents while working on a factory floor for approximately $12 an hour. The newspaper reports that he has since advanced to a supplier quality specialist position at Tark Manufacturing, the same Dayton-area company that employed him after his conviction.

Public property records reportedly show that he purchased a house in Oakwood for $162,500, returning to the same suburb where he grew up.

The Daily Mail also reports that the family that publicly supported him following his arrest has since fallen apart, although the excerpt does not explain the circumstances behind that claim.

The renewed attention comes amid broader discussions about how colleges handle s*xual assault allegations, particularly following the lawsuit involving the so-called “
