Meet the Bees! Routledge Apiaries is excited to announce we will be offering an opportunity to meet bees in person!
What to expect:
A bee suit
-Waist up for adults or teens. Boots, jeans or thick pants recommended.
-Full suit for children (need approximate height when booking to ensure we can accommodate)
Approx. 1 hour between getting suits on, signing waivers (you might get stung and you can’t be allergic to bees! 🙂 ), opening the hives, finding and discussing all the different aspects inside a beehive, tasting some honey right from the frame and time to take suits off. If you are comfortable you can even hold one!
Location: Falmouth
Cost: $25 per person limit of 5 per session. Discounted rate of $100 if you bring 5 people to one session. Please message to book your spot.
First session is planned for June 29th at 9 AM. Weather pending and flexible scheduling available for groups.

It is Honey Bee Swarm Season! Call Routledge Apiaries if you see a cloud of bees or a clump of bees! We are located in Windsor and generally able to travel between Kentville and Mount Uniacke. We are excited to have our first Swarm traps up! After removing bees from Clifton Museum Park & Shand House Museum last year we’ve now taken action to reduce the likelyhood of another Bee colony taking up residence in the historic buildings!
How does a swarm trap work you might ask?
A swarm trap is designed to meet all the needs of a fresh bee colony. As the scout bees search for options the swarm trap has the proper dimensions and height they are looking for. To be even more enticing we use lemon grass scent which mimics the scent of a scout bee who has found a good home. If all that isn’t enough we also add some frames of wax comb! We provide the best option for a place to live in hopes they move in and can easily be removed from the site without added cost or damages to the bees or buildings!
