☕️🦠 First compost tea brew complete! 🦠☕️

In order to boost the microbiology in our soil we made an aerobic compost tea from homemade compost, molasses, pond water and and air pump.

The simple and quick process only took 2 days and now we have applied a thriving colony of microbes directly into our greenhouse and orchard for better soil biology! Check out the little microbes at the end through our microscope!

Here’s how we did it:
1. Fill drum with natural or distilled water
2. Suspend compost in tea bags
3. Add mollasss to feed microbes
4. Airate mix with a simple air pump
5. Wait 1-3 days and apply to soil

🌱 ANNOUNCEMENT 🌱

After a lot of deliberation, we’ve decided to step back from sourdough this year. It was a hard call but we feel like it’s the best plan for our family right now. We want to focus on the farm and our little guy, and bread takes up too much time that could be spent elsewhere.

The good news is we’ll still be at the Avon Community Farmers Market every Sunday starting May 10th with plenty of other good stuff! We’ll still have baked goods, fresh veggies, pickles, canned goods, honey, and flowers! We’ll also have seedlings in the spring, so swing on by the market to stock up for your garden.

Bread will be back next year. As always, we appreciate your support ❤️

🌱 Spring has sprung officially at the farm!

Some exciting friends popping up throughout the farm bringing some color to a beautiful spring so far! Having perennials in the ground always feels like a jumpstart to the season as they handle the cold of spring so well!

First seeds are going into the ground any day now!

🦌❌ Successfully upgraded the fence!

Installed the wide tape electric fence this weekend to keep the deer out of the farm. Our black poly fence was compromised too many times last year, so we’re going for the extra shock this year!

🍁 Maple Season!

The snow is melting, sap is flowing and spring is on its way! Such a great Canadian way to start a farming season, collecting andboiling down fresh Maple Syrup.

It's holiday season ❄️ We're going to be at the holiday market on Sunday, Nov. 30th! Come stop by and do your Christmas shopping, and grab a loaf, a baked good, or canned good from us in the food court!

We did sell out quickly last year, so if you'd like to guarantee your order, message me and I'll have it put aside for you 🍞

This is our last market of the year, but we have big plans for next year! Keep an eye out for some announcements in the new year. Thanks for all of the support this season ❤️

Tomato’s and flowers still in full force as the season starts to cool off! This time of year we do a lot of preserving and store as much of the fresh harvest for the winter months.🫙🥫🍅🌸

A favorite this year was the Pineapple Tomato, a beautiful massive fruit with yellow and red ripples throughout! Nice and meaty for saucing and slicing.
