Bellavista Farms started simply by wanting to get away from the daily grind and get back to a more traditional lifestyle. In the summer of 2012 we moved away from our friends and family in Calgary Alberta and started our adventure. Buying an old farm from a couple ready to retire we started with a few select Clydesdale mares. Breeding and showing our Horses while we rented our pastures out for the
first couple of years we learned a lot about animals, pasture management, and the natural order of things. In the winter of 2013 we bought our first set of bred heifers and since we have never looked back. We currently have a small herd of cattle, goats, pigs, and various types of birds. Focusing mainly on heritage style animals we have a holistic management style here on the farm. Using the animals to manage weeds and brush, insect, and pest control. We are actively working to promote healthy soils without the use of chemicals or fertilizers. We firmly believe in keeping our footprint as small as we can, which includes using our draft horses instead of burning fuels, and recycling and repurposing as much as we can here on the farm.
