What performance - true Fleckvieh at work !
𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗼
Here you see Franz Leitner's magnificent farm collection, from left to right: cow no. 103, a 5th-calf Fleckvieh who produced 10,241 kg of milk in her fourth lactation with a calving interval of just 367 days. Next to her is a 3rd-calf Fleckvieh who reached 9,581 kg of milk in her second lactation, also with an ideal calving interval of 365 days. On the right stands a promising heifer that produces an average of 34 kg of milk per day over the first 100 days.
These are all cows that owner Franz Leitner is rightly proud of. They now graze day and night on an Alpine meadow, ten kilometers from the farm, at an altitude of 1,200 meters. For Franz, that choice is self-evident: "It costs me 1,500 kg of milk per cow per year, but that is simply the way it is. And we are happy to pay for it."
A statement that aptly summarizes the Fleckvieh philosophy of this Bavarian farmer: not always maximum production, but also respect for animals, nature, and a sustainable way of farming.
