Reposting my post from 2018............................................................. A customer asked me at the market yesterday what to do with the remaining Grammie's Pepper Jelly as she served it with brie cheese and crackers as an appetizer for her dinner party.
My husband came up with an idea while we were eating crepes for brunch this morning. He suggested that Grammie's Firecracker Red Hot Pepper Jelly would be excellent spread inside cottage cheese crepes.
Here are some other suggestions:
Use Grammie's Pepper Jelly as a glaze on vegetables or on meats such as ham and pork chops or fish or chicken wings - A customer tried the Grammie's Habanero Pepper Jelly as a glaze on salmon steaks and said it was excellent! I have used the Grammie's Firecracker Red Hot Pepper Jelly as a glaze for buffalo chicken wings. I first coated wings with steak spice and chili seasoning, cooked them until almost done, then glazed with Grammie's Firecracker Red Hot Pepper Jelly, and browned them until done.
The classic use of Grammie's Pepper Jelly is, of course, as a
topping for cheese and crackers including goat cheese, smoked cheddar and brie as an appetizer.
You can mix any of the Grammie's Pepper Jelly with cream cheese, mayonnaise or yogurt for a dip for vegetables, fruit or chicken wings/strips. Try the Grammie's Strawberry Jalapeno mixed with Strawberry Yogurt for a fruit platter and cheese tray!
A customer uses Grammie's Blueberry Jalapeno Pepper Jelly as a topping for vanilla ice cream.
My husband uses Grammie's Pepper Jelly as a spread to complement a sandwich, a wrap or hamburger, or on an egg, ham and cheese sandwich. He is a spice lover so he likes Grammie's Pure Jalapeno Pepper Jelly with Genoa Salami on rye bread. A customer has used Grammie's Sweet Red Pepper Jelly on a cream cheese wrap with diced fresh peppers inside!
Grammie's Pepper Jelly makes a quick filling for small pre-made tart shells. Brown the tarts. Spread Grammie's Pepper Jelly as a base in the browned tart shell; add some grated mozza cheese and bake till the cheese melts. Serve as an appetizer!
I have an excellent Old Fashioned Thumbprint Cookie Recipe that I will share in future post. Grammie's Pepper Jelly and Grammie's regular Jams and Jellies can all be used a filling for these cookies or as a layer between cookies!
You can also a teaspoon or so of a Grammie's Pepper Jelly to add zest to a stir fry, meatball sauce or salad dressing!
Let your imagination blossom and create your own specialities with Grammie's Pepper Jelly.
