Mercator Vineyards is distinctive for its authentic heritage and welcoming in its relaxed and simple focus on old world-style wines. We are devoted to growing exceptional grapes and making extraordinary, limited-edition wines that express our terroir. Situated on a bluff above the historic Acadian dykelands, the winery sits at the point where the Cornwallis River enters the tidal bay of the Minas

Basin. Our unique coastal terroir overlooks the Bay of Fundy where the world’s highest tides influence our vineyard’s soil and generate our temperature-moderating tidal winds. The vineyards are located just to the east of the town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia and adjacent to the Grand-Pré National Historic site. Named for the pioneering cartographer whose groundbreaking world map made way for the first agrarian settlements in the area, Mercator wines challenge our perceptions of “local” wine by taking us into a world of premium, estate-select and cellared wines that rival the best the world has to offer. Come enjoy a wine flight with small bites in our restored farmhouse, linger over a bottle of reserve wine and watch the eagles from the deck, or choose a selection of our pantry fixings and head out on our bikes along the Harvest Moon Trail. We're open Friday through Labour Day Monday, 11 am to 6 pm, before we close on September 8th. With rain in the forecast, there's no better time to settle in — our comfortable seating awaits, both inside and out on the patio.

Come stock up on your favourite w**es for the season ahead, and let our team pour you something new. Choose a classic tasting flight, or indulge in our chocolate pairing flight — a match made for a rainy afternoon.

August 24th, 2026 Estate and River Bend Vineyard Updates, from bud burst to harvest, from anywhere you are.

We're changing focus from the growth and development of the canopy and clusters to veraison at this stage of the season.

Our earliest varieties in River Bend have taken on a significant colour. The Marquette has various shades of purple that will deepen further in veraison with just a few green berries left. Petite Milo is shifting from blue greens, to yellow greens and pink hues.

The Estate L'Acadie is developing its characteristic veraison spots of red while the berries begin to soften and the New York Muscat has begun showing that it is a red grape variety.

Though not as noticeable in the photo, the shifting from blue green to yellow green clusters is visible while passing by the Seyval. Being our latest variety, the chardonnay has not quite visibly shifted to veraison.

As the season begins its quiet turn, we invite you to visit our tasting room for these final weeks. For the remainder of our season, we will be open Friday through Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm and Labour Day — a gentle shift to the rhythm of late summer. The patio is still warm, the light lingers, and there are bottles waiting to be shared.

Our last day open for the season will be September 7. That leaves just a handful of weekends to enjoy a tasting flight or chocolate pairing, pick up a few favourite bottles, or simply sit and take in the view with a glass and great company. We hope to see you before the doors close for the season.

Come by this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday — or any remaining weekend through Labour Day. We'll be pouring our full selection of estate-grown w**es and we look forward to welcoming you.

Chardonnay has long been an integral grape in the Mercator portfolio and is now being showcased as a varietal. We launched our Varietal Chardonnay program in 2019 and have continued to build on it every vintage since.

Mercator Reserve Chardonnay is 100% Nova Scotia grown. Our Chardonnay grows in our estate vineyard as well as in two distinct sites—one in Northern Nova Scotia and the other in Bear River. It is barrel-fermented and aged in select French oak barrels. Limited edition of only 150 cases aged in 4 French oak barrels.

We're open daily 11 am to 6 pm to welcome visitors from the world over to experience the genuine warmth of our people and their craft from the bounty of this land.

Our first Blomidon Paint n Sip filled up so fast we added a second date. We are delighted to offer an afternoon of art and w**e at Mercator Vineyards on Sunday, September 6, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.

Situated on a bluff overlooking the Bay of Fundy, Mercator Vineyards offers an unparalleled vantage point of the iconic Blomidon view — making it the ideal setting for this special occasion. In partnership with Valley Art Workshops, we are pleased to present the Blomidon Paint n Sip - Extra!

Guests will have the opportunity to savour our locally produced premium w**es while painting, and to enjoy exclusive offers reserved for participants. Simply present your ticket — either printed or displayed on your mobile device — at the bar upon arrival.

No prior experience is required; all materials will be provided. We ask only that you bring your appreciation for the valley.

Veraison has begun in the Marquette. This signals the transition from berry growth to sugar and flavor accumulation. The sugars rush in, the skin thins, and the colour develops.

Compass Rosé is a classic Provence-style Rosé, made from our finest local grapes and expressing our unique terroir. The delicate structure and expressive aromatics make this an ideal food w**e year round.

Delicate dishes such as those made with local seafood, complex roasted chicken dishes or creamy pasta dishes are some suggested pairings. Compass Rosé also pairs well with an array of cheeses and serves well as an aperitif.
