What is Creamed Honey? ๐Ÿฏโœจ
โ€‹If youโ€™ve ever had liquid honey crystallize into a gritty, hard mess in your cupboard, you know how frustrating it can be. But what if you could control that crystallization to create something incredibly smooth, thick, and perfectly spreadable? Welcome to Creamed Honey (also known as whipped or spun honey)!
โ€‹Creamed honey isn't a chemical mix, and it doesn't contain any dairy. It is a 100% natural physical modification of pure honey. By guiding the natural crystallization process, we create billions of microscopic crystals instead of large, crunchy ones.
โ€‹How Itโ€™s Made (The Dyce Method):
โ€‹๐ŸŒพ The "Seed" Introduction: We add a "seed" of previously finished, ultra-smooth creamed honey into liquid honey at a precise 1:10 ratio (10%).
โ€‹๐ŸŒ€ Slow, Gentle Mixing: The mixture is quietly churned at low speeds over a few days. This encourages the new crystals to copy the tiny, smooth pattern of the seed.
โ€‹๐Ÿซ™ Jarring: The smooth, velvety mixture is poured into jars while itโ€™s still flowing.
โ€‹โ„๏ธ Cool Conditioning: The jars are stored at a cool temperature of 12โ€“14ยฐC (53โ€“57ยฐF) for a few weeks to set completely.
โ€‹The result? A rich, velvety honey spread that sits beautifully on toast, biscuits, or a spoon without ever dripping! ๐Ÿž๐Ÿฏ

can honeybee recognize human faces ?

One of the countless tasks as a beekeeper is keeping the bee yards mowed so the entrances are more accessible for the bees. It is also how you get covered in ticks and make millions of bees very angry all at the same time. Sorry girls- you will thank me later ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

๐ŸŒŽHappy World Bee Day to the tiny winged workers who keep our gardens blooming, our fields growing, and our world buzzing with life.
๐ŸŒธEvery flower kissed by a bee is a small act of magic and today we get to celebrate these the quiet little caretakers of the earth. ๐Ÿ
Hereโ€™s 5 ways you can help the bees without being a beekeeper:
1. Plant native plants in your yard. Seek varieties that are nectar & pollen rich and bloom at different times.
2. Refrain from using pesticides in your
yard.
3. Make a drinking water station from a shallow dish filled with pebbles.
4. ๏ปฟ๏ปฟ๏ปฟDedicate a corner of your yard as pollinator sanctuary: leave some bare soil, don't rake the leaves, allow flowers to grow freely and don't cut all the dead stems in the fall. Wait to mow in spring so the bees can feed off early dandelions and clovers.
5. Be a voice for the pollinators. Educates and Encourage your friends, family and neighbors to do all of this too!

Happy World Bee Day๐Ÿ. We are excited to have our observation hive back inside the honey house. We marked the new Queen this weekend to make her easier to find. Come visit her this weekend ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

In honour of Motherโ€™s Day the new Queens have arrived this week from Hawaii ๐ŸŒบand have been installed in their new colonies. They consist of one mated queen and several attendants who keep her fed and groomed during the 22 hour trip. The noise you hear is Queen bee piping or quacking which is a distinct, acoustic signal produced by queens to announce their presence, threaten rival queens, and signal worker bees to accept her into their colony. They will work to release her from the cage by chewing through the fondant at the entrance and by that time they will hopefully have accepted her as their new queen - there can only bee one!๐Ÿ‘ธWe will check the new colonies next weekend to ensure she has been accepted and is laying eggs.๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

A honeybeeโ€™s work is almost impossible to imagine at human scale.

A single worker bee can produce only a few tiny wax flakes in half a day, yet those flakes become the building blocks of honeycomb โ€” the perfectly shaped hexagonal structure where bees store honey, raise young, and protect the colonyโ€™s future.

It takes hundreds of thousands of these tiny wax scales to make just one pound of beeswax. That means every piece of honeycomb is not just a structure it is the result of thousands of small efforts repeated with incredible precision. Tiny flakes. Endless teamwork. One of natureโ€™s most beautiful designs.
