With the milder weather, we've been tackling the To-do list around the barn...yesterday we got the doelings disbudded, and this morning we fixed the gaping holes the bucks put in the buck barn over the winter. Hard to make barns buck proof, esp. when they want to show off their manliness to the ladies!
We had enough time in the afternoon to clean out the barn addition put in fresh bedding, and put King of the Hill in with 3 does that seem to have evaded getting bred last fall. Let's hope they come around in heat now for him!

We are still having cold days and nights here and snow on the ground, and I'm making good use of heat lamps for 2026 'spring' kidding. 11 kids on the ground so far, and the girls are in the lead...8 doelings and 3 bucklings thus far!
Sadly, we lost my sweet and gentleTreeline Bonfire (VG 88) during her kidding, as her kids were tangled up and even the vet couldn't straighten things out, but her sacrificial gift to us was 2 beautiful healthy doelings. Rest in peace sweet Bonfire❤!

You think it's too cold outside? My goats were quite enjoying the sunshine this afternoon! They have nice thick winter coats, and my two LGDs do as well. They are somewhere in the mix too!

I've got 2 very happy boys in the barn now! Treeline Cowboy VG89 has 7 girlfriends in with him, and Staveley King of the Hill EX has 7 girlfriends as well. The boys are certainly not gonna be overworked at all, but they will be happy all the same. I reduced my herd numbers this summer due to health reasons, which of course for me was very difficult to do, cuz I love them all, but I have to admit chore time is pretty easy now! I'm thankful that I'm finally feeling "more like normal" after a 3 month ordeal! And of course I'm very thankful for my hubby for all the help he's been this summer with the goats and making meals etc!

Treeline EZ Es**rt is born March 24th, 2024, and is an impressive paint buck out of Treeline Emma R34919, who classified 2EX this fall! He is sired by Staveley King of the Hill R39518, who classified EX this fall as well. He has been a standout from the beginning , and is very ready to go to work. He is teated 2&1, with the front teat being small and well separated. He is a twin, dam-raised alongside his sister, and weighed in at 12 lbs at birth! His sister was 9 1/2 lbs.
This boy will make an incredible herd sire Hannah, and no doubt will be a great genetic influence in your herd! Congratulations!
