Please people, stop bringing light bulbs. Take them to the dump! Do not try and sneak in any kind of hazardous waste. We DO NOT TAKE THEM!

Hello everyone.
We see that spring clean up is underway by the number of containers arriving at the depot. That's all good but remember to take those caps off, there is some very dirty stuff in some of those bottles and I don't think my staff should have to deal with it. You may get sent away if there are too many caps. While you are taking the caps off inside, you are holding up other customers who have their items cap free.
Since there are so many people arriving at the same time, we are using the number system again to get in line. Pop in if we are not outside and we will give you a number card, when it's your turn, return the number to the attendant.
Drop and Go accounts are doing well. It takes a little longer than usual to process them since the drop offs have increased as well as table customers are bringing in large quantities. Remember to place your bar codes securely on the bag as we are finding some on the floor and have no idea which bag they belong on. Also we are seeing some bags with 2 different bar codes on them. Only tag your own bag. Oops!
If your Drop and Go account is over $2000.00, please come get your refund. That refund will get you a bit of interest in your bank.
Now that the weather is warmer we will get out and do our yard clean up. In the mean time please don't dump garbage from your vehicles, old coffee cups, fast food wrappers, or items that can be recycled at the blue bins.
Any e-waste items that you bring to be recycled can be left in the box labeled Door 3 in front of the quanncet. If it's a big item that you need help with, tv's etc, we will help you with it. Let us know. We do not pay for these items. They are then sorted, put on pallets and sent out to recyclers in the south where the usable parts are given a second life.
We have a battery program where we take small batteries, less than 5kg. Please tape the terminals (not the whole battery) with either packing tape or electrical tape, since some batteries hold a residual charge even when they appear dead and a spark can occur. Example: Lithium, alkaline- over 12v, button, small sealed lead acid and lithium ion. There is a box inside the beverage depot for batteries. No car or boat batteries.
That's our story for now. Happy Spring.

Wishing you all a warm, sunny and memorable Easter

Unfortunately we are no longer able to offer the 10 to 1pm Monday Drop N Go opening.

We were using the Monday 4 hours for our staff to get caught up on Saturdays Drop n Go and baling. The last day we were open there was no one available for the last hour as our work was done and I was there in the office. An individual came in, seeing there was no one in his immediate presence, vandalized the building and stole a few minor things. We do not keep cash in the building. Our computer system was down for 4 hours the next day. Thanks to our excellent camera systems, the individual was picked up by the RCMP. For safety reasons we are not going to keep the 4 hr opening on Mondays. Moral of the story: not everyone is honest and respectful. Lock your doors.
