WHO IS A GLUTTON?
A glutton is not just someone who eats a lot. A glutton is a person who has lost control over appetite, allowing food, drink, or physical cravings to dominate their will, discipline, and spiritual sensitivity.
Gluttony is excess without restraint, desire without control, and consumption without purpose.
It is when the stomach becomes a master instead of a servant.
The Bible does not treat gluttony lightly—it places it among serious moral and spiritual issues:
“Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty…” (Proverbs 23:20–21)
“Put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.” (Proverbs 23:2)
“Whose god is their belly…” (Philippians 3:19)
These scriptures show clearly that gluttony is not just physical, it is spiritual, dangerous, and destiny-affecting.
10 POWERFUL TRUTHS ABOUT A GLUTTON
(1). A Glutton Worships the Belly, Not God
Gluttony is not just overeating—it is misplaced worship.
“Whose god is their belly…” (Philippians 3:19)
2. Gluttony Is a Spiritual Gate for Bo***ge
When appetite is uncontrolled, it opens doors to other weaknesses—lust, laziness, and lack of discipline.
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body…” (Romans 6:12)
(3). A Glutton Lacks Prophetic Sensitivity
Overindulgence dulls spiritual alertness.
“Take heed… lest your hearts be weighed down with… drunkenness…” (Luke 21:34)
(4). Gluttony Is Self-Destruction in Slow Motion
It does not kill instantly—it destroys gradually.
“Put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.” (Proverbs 23:2)
5. A Glutton Cannot Be Trusted With Power
If appetite controls you, authority will expose you.
“For a bishop must be… temperate…” (Titus 1:7–8)
6. Gluttony Attracts Poverty—Spiritually and Physically
It wastes resources and drains destiny.
“The drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty…” (Proverbs 23:21)
7. A Glutton Is Easily Manipulated
Those who cannot control appetite can be controlled through it.
“Esau… sold his birthright for a morsel of meat.” (Genesis 25:34)
8. Gluttony Is Rebellion Against Discipline
It rejects restraint and embraces excess.
“Every man that striveth for mastery is temperate in all things…” (1 Corinthians 9:25)
(9). A Glutton Becomes Spiritually Dull and Carnal
Excess feeding strengthens the flesh over the spirit.
“They are all greedy dogs which can never have enough…” (Isaiah 56:11)
10. Gluttony Opposes the Spirit of Fasting and Consecration
You cannot walk in power if you cannot deny yourself.
“This kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21)
Gluttony is not about food, it is about control.
When appetite rules a man, discipline dies.
When discipline dies, destiny is weakened.
“I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection…” (1 Corinthians 9:27)
