🏛️ SOMETIMES IT’S NICE TO BE ON THE INSIDE LOOKING IN.

We hear the phrase “on the outside looking in” all the time.

And in a small town, it can sometimes feel that way too.

We drive past buildings every day without knowing what’s behind the doors. We see a new business opening but don’t always know the person taking the chance behind it. We see an old building and may not know the generations of stories held inside its walls. We pass people on Main Street without knowing their connection to this community.

Tonight, we got to be on the inside looking in.

Inside 102 North Main Street, looking out at the same Federalsburg streets we travel every day, but from a completely different perspective.

And maybe that’s a pretty good analogy for Federalsburg Better Together.

Because building community is really about giving people more opportunities to get inside the story.

Inside our historic buildings.
Inside our local businesses.
Inside the conversations happening around town.
Inside the history that shaped us.
And, most importantly, inside a community where people feel like they belong.

Federalsburg has businesses that have been part of this town for generations and new businesses just beginning their chapters. We have people whose families have been here forever and people who arrived recently. We have old buildings waiting for new possibilities and new ideas finding their place among old traditions.

There should be room inside this community for all of it.

Tonight was a small example of what can happen when we simply open a door.

The McConnell's opened the doors and served as our tour guides, sharing a building they know personally.

The Federalsburg Historical Society joined us and helped fill those rooms with stories and memories that connected what we were seeing to the people who came before us.

Bravansons Lemonade Bus pulled up outside for a couple of hours, bringing a little bit of today’s Federalsburg alongside all that history. 🍋

And then there were the people who showed up.

People came through the doors because they were curious. Some remembered what the building once was. Some had never been inside. Some came to learn. Some came to reminisce.

But for a little while, we were all on the inside together.

That’s the kind of Federalsburg we want to keep building.

One where doors feel open.
Where history isn't something we just look back at, but something we build upon.
Where established businesses and new ideas can exist side by side.
Where people aren't standing on the outside wondering how to become part of something.

Because Federalsburg Better Together isn't about watching community happen from the outside.

It’s about opening the door, walking in, showing up, learning the stories, supporting one another, and realizing that we all have a place somewhere in the chapters still being written.

Sometimes it really is nice to be on the inside looking in. ❤️🏛️

Open the doors. Share the stories. Welcome people in. Build what comes next.

Just a little heads-up for our Delivery Zesties tomorrow — Thursday, 9/10!

All 3 kiddos have dental appointments first thing in the morning 🦷🪥, so our delivery start time may be pushed back a little.

The Federalsburg Historical Society, along with the owners of The McConnell Building, are opening the doors to a piece of Federalsburg’s story and inviting the community inside.

Today, we know 102 North Main Street as The McConnell Building, but over the years, this address has carried different names, served different purposes, and welcomed generations through its doors.

Names may change. The history remains.

This special tour is a chance to step inside and experience some of that history firsthand. Look a little closer at remnants of the building’s banking days, hear stories connected to this familiar Main Street address, and maybe even share a memory of your own.

But this evening isn’t only about looking backward.

🍋🚌 Bravanson’s Main Squeeze, LLC Lemonade Bus will be joining us! From 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the parking lot!

There’s something pretty fitting about celebrating the businesses and people who helped shape yesterday’s Federalsburg while a local business of today pulls up outside.

Because the small businesses, gatherings, conversations, and ordinary moments happening around town right now are the very things that become tomorrow’s local history.

Come inside for the history. Step outside for a fresh squeeze. Meet a neighbor. Share a memory. Ask a question. And experience a little piece of Federalsburg in a way you may not have before.

Many names. Many chapters. One address. One community.
