Happy 173rd birthday, Vincent Van Gogh! These drinkers hope you had a great day! Van Gogh often included absinthe in his paintings but not, apparently, in this one. In fact this painting from 1890 represents the four ages of man and it seems appropriate that the drinkers would bid each other farewell after so long together!

Happy with Green Spot and a green absinthe: a perfect cocktail for today. Green Spot needs no introduction for Whiskey lovers. La Clandestine Verte is a full-flavoured green absinthe perfect in cocktails which call for just a few dashes of absinthe. #アブサン

Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party is normally displayed in Washington but has come to the Musée d'Orsay in Paris for a few months. We imagined that the young French people seen here don’t like all the Ice served with absinthe in the USA and are delighted to be back home. Let's hope they remember to get back in the painting!

For International Women’s Day, we’ve looked at the role of Swiss women over the last 250+ years. The Henriod mother and sisters made the first drinks we would recognise as absinthe today. When absinthe was banned, more Swiss housewives stepped in to make moonshine absinthe at home. Charlotte Vaucher created the first recipe for La Clandestine: we now know that Charlotte lived and died in Couvet where we make absinthe today and her life mirrors the time when absinthe was illegal. Coming to today, Karine Bugnon, wife of Claude-Alain, makes absinthe, sells absinthe and has travelled to help us. Santé to all the wonderful Swiss absinthe women!

It’s ! The best week of the year when we celebrate the official return of Swiss absinthe (2005) and the eventual return of absinthe to the USA (2007). La Clandestine was the first moonshine absinthe to be legalised in Switzerland and one of the first absinthes to be launched in the USA! Rare film from our U.S. launch event in 2008 with Messrs. Bugnon and Breaux with Jared from Viridian. At this event we tasted the Clandestino (a Caipirinha with La Clandestine instead of cachaca). Yum!
