Happy uttaran 🪁🪁🪁🌞🌞🌞

Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan or Maghi or simply Sankranti, also known in Bangladesh and West Bengal as Poush Sankranti, and in Nepal as Maghe Sankranti, samkranti here means ‘transfer’, this day is considered as the transition day of Sun into the Capricorn.

This festival is considered the most auspicious occasion and is one of the few Hindu festivals.

We say that dying in Uttarayana is auspicious because it is assumed that we have finished our penances in Dakshinayana. If one dies during Dakshinayana, then one has missed the opportunity to perform these penances for the sake of god. If one doesn't perform any penance, then it does not matter when one dies.

Makar Sankranti, is celebrated as Uttarayan in Gujarat. ... Kite flying, making delicacies with til (sesame seeds) and gur (jaggery), the ritual of taking a holy bath in the rivers are an integral part of Uttarayan festivities.
