Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the fires in Kalimantan.

Kalimantan – the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo – is currently affected by forest and land fires in several areas. Deforestation, land-use change and especially the drainage of peatlands make these landscapes more vulnerable to fire. Dry conditions further intensify the situation.

💚 Thankfully, our local cooperation partners are currently not affected by the fires. Still, our thoughts are with everyone – people, animals and ecosystems – who are impacted by the fires.

🌿 The images below show the kind of coastal landscapes we are working to protect and restore, highlighting the contrast between heavily altered coastal landscapes (top) and thriving, regenerating mangrove ecosystems (bottom). Together with our partners, we are restoring mangrove forests in Kalimantan and working towards more resilient coastal ecosystems. 🌱

Today, on the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we celebrate the Indigenous and traditional riverine communities who have been protecting the Amazon for generations. 🌿

At the heart of Taste of Amazon are these communities themselves. Together with ASPROC, Instituto Juruá and Blueyou, they have built a Fair Trade partnership that turns conservation into opportunity. By sustainably managing Arapaima, one of the Amazon’s most iconic fish species, they protect biodiversity while securing food sovereignty and creating sustainable livelihoods.

Today, around numerous riverine communities directly benefit from this community-based conservation model. Fair Trade premiums and revenues from international sales can be reinvested locally, strengthening traditional communities and supporting the long-term protection of the Amazon rainforest.

What began in 1999 as an effort to save an endangered species has become a powerful example of how Indigenous and local knowledge, sustainable fisheries, and Fair Trade can work together to protect one of the world's most vital ecosystems.

Because when local communities thrive, the Amazon thrives. 💚

🌿 Today, on Mangrove Conservation Day, we celebrate one of the world’s most valuable coastal ecosystems.

Mangroves protect coastlines, store vast amounts of carbon, support biodiversity – and they also play an important role in sustainable food production and local livelihoods.

Through our Selva Shrimp Program, we work with farmers to make mangrove restoration a viable economic choice. Restored mangroves improve the productivity of aquaculture ponds, helping farmers increase their incomes while restoring nature.

The opportunity is significant: around 1 million hectares of degraded coastal aquaculture land could be transformed into thriving blue food forests. We are working to show how this approach can be applied at scale, helping restore coastal ecosystems while supporting sustainable livelihoods.

To accelerate this transition, we launched the Investable Mangroves & Restorative Blue Foods Manifesto together with partners. It calls for greater investment in mangrove restoration and regenerative blue food systems, recognizing that healthy ecosystems and resilient coastal communities go hand in hand.
If you share this vision, we invite you to add your name and support the movement.

What does a day at Blueyou actually look like? 🌍🦐

Last week, 17-year-old student Ruben Lampe joined our colleague Jonas Walker at our headquarters in Zurich for a day to discover what a career in biology can look like in practice.

As Fish Biologist, Aquatic Ecologist, General Manager of Blueyou Impact, and Head of Aquaculture, Jonas leads the Selva Shrimp Programme—an initiative that integrates mangroves into degraded coastal aquaculture areas to restore ecosystems while improving farmers' livelihoods.

Beyond gaining insights into our work, Ruben had the chance to ask questions about studying biology and exploring future career paths.

💬 "The experience at Blueyou was very important and exciting for me. I gained deep insight into Blueyou's sustainable projects and was even able to actively work on current topics of Blueyou's programmes in Indonesia."

We're happy to inspire the next generation of scientists and sustainability professionals. Thanks for joining us, Ruben —we wish you all the best for your future!

🦐 Blueyou officially launched its distribution partnership with Culina, an important step in expanding the availability of our frozen seafood range in Singapore's retail and food service market.

The launch event at Culina at COMO Dempsey brought together chefs, procurement teams from leading hotels and restaurants, retail buyers, and members of the media. Guests had the opportunity to sample a selection of canapés featuring Blueyou products and learn more about our approach to responsibly sourced seafood.

The event was a great opportunity to introduce Blueyou to new customers, connect with industry partners, and showcase our product range in one of Asia's leading premium food markets.

🎉 Thank you to the Culina team for a successful launch and to everyone who joined us.

💡 How do we turn ambitious ideas into lasting action?

🌿🐟 The Investable Mangroves & Restorative Blue Foods Manifesto is more than a publication—it's a growing movement to make coastal ecosystem restoration and restorative blue food systems investable, scalable, and impactful.

Together with Restor, The Mangrove Breakthrough, and Vlinder, we were proud to launch the manifesto and kick off what we hope will become a long-term collaboration across sectors.

✏️ To bring this vision to life, Flatland created a beautiful illustration that captures the connections between healthy mangroves, restorative blue food systems, thriving coastal communities, and innovative finance. Thank you, Flatland, for transforming these ideas into such a powerful visual.

🙏 A huge thank you to everyone who has already signed the manifesto. Your support is helping build the momentum needed to turn shared principles into real-world impact.

🚀 And this is just the beginning.

Whether you're working in the blue economy, sustainable finance, conservation, food systems, or simply passionate about nature-positive solutions, we invite you to join the conversation.

If you'd like to support the manifesto or become a signatory, we'd love to hear from you.

This World Oceans Day, some of our team members share their personal connection to the ocean.

At Blueyou, that connection inspires our work every day. Through the seafood we offer, we support fishing and farming origins that restore ocean health, enhance biodiversity, empower coastal communities, and help combat climate change.

Because protecting the ocean isn't just something we talk about—it's at the heart of what we do.

Happy World Oceans Day.

🌊 Mangroves are no longer just a conservation story — they are becoming an investable climate solution.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the “Investable Mangroves & Restorative Blue Foods” session during Climate Week Zurich 2026. Together with partners, investors, scientists and ecosystem builders, we explored how regenerative aquaculture and mangrove restoration can unlock measurable impact for climate, biodiversity and coastal communities. 🌱🐟

What stood out most:
→ the growing momentum behind restorative blue economies
→ the need for cross-sector collaboration
→ and the clear signal that scalable nature-based solutions are ready for implementation and investment

We’re especially excited about the launch of the Investable Mangroves Manifesto and the conversations it sparked around scaling regenerative aquaculture to 1M hectares by 2040.

A sincere thank you to all speakers, partners and participants for contributing your perspectives, energy and ambition. The dialogue doesn’t stop here — this is only the beginning.

🌊🐟 Happy World Tuna Day! 🐟🌊

Today, we celebrate one of the most iconic – and most important – fish in our oceans: tuna. 💙
As mid-to-top predators, they help maintain the balance of marine ecosystems, feeding on smaller fish and squid while also serving as prey for sharks, billfish, and marine mammals. Because they connect multiple levels of the food web, changes in tuna populations can ripple through entire ocean systems.

Tuna are also vital for people: a healthy, nutritious source of protein – and tinned tuna is among the most climate-friendly animal protein options available. 🌍
With a global catch of around 6 million metric tons, tuna supports an industry worth about USD 50 billion each year.

The good news? 🙌
Thanks to improved management and conservation efforts, more than 95% of the world’s tuna now comes from healthy stocks!

At Blueyou, we’re going a step further:
With our newly launched Fair Trade Certified™ tuna program in the Maldives, in partnership with , we support sustainable fisheries and thriving coastal communities. 🤝
By promoting traditional, selective, and low-impact fishing methods, we’re helping build a more climate-smart future for our oceans. 🌊💙

“The Arapaima carries a story of resilience, respect for nature, and positive impact for both people and planet. It aligns perfectly with our philosophy at MONO, which celebrates the connection between food, culture, and sustainability.” Chef Ricardo Chaneton, MONO

🐟The Arapaima, one of the world’s largest freshwater fish, stands for resilience and regeneration. Once severely threatened across the Amazon Basin, its population has rebounded by up to 170% in well-managed areas – thanks to a model that empowers Indigenous communities, protects biodiversity, and safeguards the rainforest.

A fish that represents more than taste – but a vision for how responsible sourcing and culinary excellence can create real impact.
