The festive season is coming, and we’ve made a little something to add a bit of spice to your holiday cooking — or to share with friends and family.
We’ve put together three small-batch chilli oils, each a little different.
Limited jars available — tap the post for details.

Mee Soto Ayam — a comforting noodle soup inspired by Indonesia’s classic Soto Ayam, a fragrant spiced chicken broth enjoyed across the region.
In Malaysia and Singapore, noodles were added over time, turning it into the beloved Mee Soto we know today.
It’s made with fragrant spiced chicken broth, shredded chicken, noodles, and a squeeze of lime for that bright finish.
As we at Jom Makan use locally sourced ingredients, we substituted Chinese celery leaves with parsley — and it worked perfectly well!
We had a batch of fresh bio ramen from .halestronfoods , so we tried it with this soulful bowl of Soto Ayam — nice and warming on a cold autumn evening.

Penang Hokkien Mee — a comforting bowl of noodles in rich, prawn-based broth. We cook our stock slowly with prawn heads, shells, and pork ribs for 6 hours to bring out that deep, savoury sweetness.

Curry Fish Head — a classic with a twist of memory and migration
In Malaysia or Singapore, this iconic seafood dish is usually more expensive than something like chicken curry. So imagine my surprise when I first moved to Zurich (over 20 years ago!) and discovered that a King Fish head was actually cheaper than chicken.

Most likely because not many people here know how to enjoy a fish head — but we definitely do! 😄

It’s not quite as cheap these days, but still just as delicious. A comforting favourite we bring back into our kitchen every few months.

Have you ever tried fish head curry?

One of my gluten-free favourites when catering: canapés on rice crackers
This version features black sticky rice, a Vietnamese mint–cashew pesto, and sweet crayfish tails, finished with chilli oil, squeeze of lime and fresh coriander

Light, flavourful, and always a crowd-pleaser — proof that gluten-free can still be indulgent.
