This was another bottle at Suvarnabhumi airport in that I was surprised to see. At about $9000 USD it was way above what I would pay for it but I don't often see these available for sale other than in Japan and often at similar prices.

Widely regarded as one of the world's most iconic Japanese whiskies, Yamazaki 25 is matured primarily in sherry casks, giving it extraordinary richness and depth. The nose reveals dark fruits, polished oak, dried figs, and warm baking spices. On the palate, layers of dark chocolate, raisins, espresso, and subtle Mizunara oak unfold with remarkable elegance. The finish is exceptionally long, luxurious, and continuously evolving. Rarely seen outside premium retailers and collectors' cabinets, Yamazaki 25 represents the pinnacle of Japanese whisky craftsmanship.

Throwback to 10 years ago!

This was another picture from 10 years ago and shows that even at that time the 12 was way above retail prices. If I could get any at that price now it would probably be either the Macallan 15 Fine Oak or the old bottling of the Dalmore 18.

Three legendary distilleries, each with its own distinct identity. Dalmore is celebrated for its rich sherry influence, delivering notes of dark chocolate, orange, coffee, and spice. Yamazaki showcases Japanese elegance with layered fruit, Mizunara oak, incense, and delicate complexity. Macallan remains synonymous with luxurious sherry maturation, offering dried fruits, vanilla, rich oak, and exceptional balance. These are more bottles I saw in airport in Bangkok. I've seen these a bit more than the Yamazaki and Hakushu 25 but still not too often and this is the first time I saw them at a Duty Free in an airport. It was about $7500 USD which is still high but less than the Yamazaki 25 they also had.

Considered one of Japan's finest blended whiskies, Hibiki 30 Years Old showcases decades of careful maturation and Suntory's renowned blending artistry. Its nose reveals rich dried fruits, plum, honey, sandalwood, and Mizunara oak, followed by a remarkably layered palate of dark chocolate, figs, cinnamon, orange peel, and subtle spice. The finish is exceptionally long, silky, and beautifully balanced. Produced in very limited quantities, Hibiki 30 has become one of the world's most sought-after collector bottles and a benchmark for luxury Japanese whisky.

Throwback to 10 years ago!

I found this picture from 10 years ago at S&R which is the Costco equivalent in the Philippines. A bottle of Macallan 12 Sherry Oak was about $45 USD at the time.

Often regarded as one of the best introductions to premium single malt Scotch, The Macallan 12 Sherry Oak is matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain. It opens with aromas of raisins, vanilla, dried orange, and warm spices before revealing rich flavors of toffee, dried fruits, cinnamon, and creamy oak on the palate. The finish is smooth, warming, and satisfyingly long. While it sits at the entry point of Macallan's core range, its consistency and classic sherry character have made it a favorite among both newcomers and experienced collectors alike.

While I was in Bangkok, Ike Tae the owner of NAO introduced me to The Bar Vagabond and told me it was one of the best speakeasy bars in Bangkok.

And honestly? He wasn’t wrong.

I was in Bangkok a few months ago and saw this set which was 1 of 2030 bottles for a bit over $4000 USD. I thought about it for a bit but then realized I had a lot of travel ahead of me and didn't want to risk having it in my suitcase going through a few different airports.

The Macallan Masters of Photography: Elliott Erwitt Edition is one of the distillery's most celebrated collectible releases, created in collaboration with the legendary photographer. Limited in production, each handcrafted crystal flask is paired with exclusive artwork, making it as much an art piece as a whisky. IS IT FAKE?????

I saw this in Hanoi, Vietnam for about $350 USD. Inside was a 17yo Fine Oak that I forgot to take a picture of. However, I tried to research this wooden box and couldn't find it anywhere and found no pictures of one online.

I eventually decided to pass on it but does anyone have any thoughts? I may be back in a few months and it may still be there.

Some of the best bars aren’t on Google Maps… they’re hidden behind an invitation. 🥃

One dinner in Bangkok unexpectedly led me to one of the city’s most exclusive speakeasies—.notanotheroffice.Hidden behind an unmarked white wall, with no sign outside and impossible to find on Google Maps, it’s a place only members and invited guests get to experience.

Watching the bartenders craft every cocktail was an experience on its own. Precision, creativity, and attention to every detail.

I was in Phnom Penh and there was a whisky and cigar bar next door to my hotel. I stopped in expecting to see outrageous prices but was shocked at how reasonable they were. You can buy a bottle such as this Glenfiddich 12 for $30 USD and drink it in the bar/lounge. The person there told me that other liquor stores in the city buy their bottles to resell them.

Glenfiddich 12 Years Old is a smooth and approachable Speyside single malt known for its easy drinking style and fresh fruit character. On the nose, it shows bright orchard fruits like pear and apple with soft vanilla and light honey. The palate is light and mellow, with notes of sweet malt, butterscotch, citrus, and gentle oak. The finish is clean, soft, and slightly sweet, fading quickly with a light fruity and vanilla warmth that makes it very easy to enjoy.

I was very tempted by this Bruchladdich 21 at that price at Duty Free in Phnom Penh, Cambodia but didn’t pull the trigger. Looking back I sort of wish I did.

A striking contrast of craftsmanship, Octomore 15.1 and Bruichladdich 21 Years Old showcase both intensity and elegance in Islay whisky. On the nose, expect a powerful wave of earthy peat smoke from the Octomore, softened by hints of vanilla and citrus, while the Bruichladdich 21 reveals refined aromas of dried fruits, honey, and gentle coastal notes. The palate unfolds with Octomore’s bold smoky richness layered with sweet malt and charred oak, balanced by the 21 year old’s smooth and complex profile of caramel, spice, and ripe fruit. The finish is long and memorable, with lingering peat warmth from Octomore intertwined with Bruichladdich’s silky and subtly maritime sweetness, leaving a refined and enduring impression.
