With our 2024 McLaren Vale Old Vine Grenache set for release on the 19th of June, I have found myself in a period of quiet reflection. Looking at the initial reviews alongside this post, I am incredibly grateful for the generous accolades and commentary from some of the country’s leading wine critics.
We have worked exceptionally hard, stayed focused, and remain driven by a singular mission: to bring Australian wine back to the global fine wine table.
For the better part of the last two decades, I feel Australia has often been omitted from the conversations of serious global collectors and connoisseurs. The reasons behind this shift are complex, and there is no denying that historical industry decisions continue to cast a shadow over our present state of play.
However, I have never been one to simply complain or lecture from the sidelines. I wanted to shift the narrative the only way I know how—by crafting exceptional wine, putting it in the glass, and letting the quality speak directly to the world’s most respected voices.
To see these early scores validate that effort is incredibly humbling. We are still only a few years into what is a lifelong journey, but moments like this prove the work is worth it. It is about building a legacy—not just for our own label, but to help pave the way for the generations of Australian winemakers yet to come.
Thank you to the critics who tasted this vintage with an open mind and an exacting palate.
The countdown to the 19th of June begins. 🇦🇺🍷
