Welcome to Sweet Only Cake Design! My name is Sarah, I am a Canadian born, Welsh girly now living in Nosara, Costa Rica. I started making celebration cakes about 10 years ago, when my "slightly crazy" friend asked me to "do her wedding cake". I was terrified; I had no experience nor idea where to start but I couldn't let her down on her big day! So I took myself to the library and taught myself ho
w to make sugar flowers. I trawled through wedding magazines and recipe books for design and flavor ideas and in the process I discovered a life-lasting passion for pastry! Ever since, I have been playing with my small, hobby, cake design business "Sweet Only"; whilst also exploring my passion for cooking, travel, painting and drawing and squeezing in a sixty plus hour work week in the heart of corporate London!! I am a trained psychologist, talent management post graduate and human resources professional; however, it is my dream to live a simpler life in which I can design and share "tasty and beautiful" cakes with those who appreciate honest creativity, value bespoke attention and top quality ingredients. I believe cake can be an incredible medium through which to express emotion, appreciation and celebration. Simple, humble ingredients (like sugar, flour and butter) brought together with skill and affection to create alchemy-like transformations. It still amazes me that such simple items can, when treated correctly, combine to become works of art. And... (most excitingly) if you can dream it, it can be made! I'm certain that there is a cake for everyone; flavors, fillings, frostings, decorations, designs, themes... The possibilities are endless! In any case, it is my promise to never make the same cake twice. Each design is carefully considered and tailored specifically to celebrate the individual/s or occasion. I take the time to understand the needs of my clients and we work together to ensure the perfect cake is conceptualized. Then, with pleasure, I'll dedicate hours of commitment, attention and energy so that the moment it takes to blow out a candle, make a wish or together slice your wedding cake is magical!
