Yun Wu - Clouds & Mist Green Tea

Grown in moderately high mist-covered mountains in Anhui Province, China and plucked in late April.
The cool clouds drift through the tea gardens. Yun Wu, meaning “Clouds and Mist”, develops its beautifully fresh and delicate character.

The frequent mist protects the tea leaves from intense sunlight, encouraging a gentle sweetness, fresh vegetal notes and a wonderfully smooth mouthfeel. In the cup, Yun Wu offers a clean, refreshing liquor with subtle floral and chestnut-like nuances, its vegetal, umami, buttery and balanced with a pleasant savoury depth and lingering sweetness.

It’s quite elegant yet wonderfully approachable.
Perfect for every day drinking and goes well on its own or with meals and even lightly sweetened cakes.

Brews best at 85-88 degrees C

The name Joonjak refers to a traditional Korean leaf grade, typically made from leaves harvested later in the spring than the very early, delicate teas. The slightly more mature leaves give Joonjak a fuller body and a deeper, more rounded flavour.

What makes this tea particularly interesting is its wild-arbor character. Rather than presenting the intensely grassy profile we often associate with Japanese green teas, it offers something softer and more rustic — gentle vegetal notes, subtle nuttiness, a touch of sweetness and a pleasant mineral quality.

Korean green tea is traditionally processed using heat to stop oxidation, often with repeated stages of heating and rolling. This careful craftsmanship helps create its distinctive balance between freshness, warmth and complexity.

In the cup, Wild Arbor Joonjak is smooth, mellow and beautifully calming, with a clean finish and a gentle sweetness that lingers after each sip.

This poem beautifully captures Lu Yu’s character. Rather than portraying the great tea scholar surrounded by luxury, Jiaoran shows him living quietly and simply, close to nature. Lu Yu has disappeared into the mountains—quite possibly exploring the landscape, springs and plants that were so central to his understanding of tea.

There is also something wonderfully understated about the poem: Lu Yu never actually appears. We come to know him through his surroundings—the wild path, mulberries, h**p, chrysanthemums, mountains and his simple home.

Jiaoran and Lu Yu were close friends, and Jiaoran himself was deeply connected with Tang-dynasty tea culture. Their friendship helped place tea within the world of poetry, contemplation and simplicity of life.
