Last weekend, I spent a few days in Zeeland learning the Masterson Method. A gentle form of bodywork that helps horses release tension and relax.

While I was there, I kept thinking about our horses at home.

Rescue work is not just about giving a horse a safe place to stay. It’s about getting to know them, listening to them, earning their trust and finding ways to make their lives a little better.

These horses give us so much just by being who they are. So learning something like this feels like a small way of giving something back to them.

I’m really looking forward to bringing this home and sharing it with our herd.

As parents, we all want our children to grow up feeling safe, happy, and carefree. Yet more and more often, we meet children who carry worries far too heavy for their young shoulders.

We are seeing children struggling at younger ages than ever before. Children who feel overwhelmed, who battle difficult emotions, and sometimes even have thoughts about death or self-harm. It’s a heartbreaking reality.

What these children often need most is a place where they can simply be themselves. No pressure. No judgement. No need to pretend they’re okay.

That is what we try to offer at our care farm. A safe place where children are accepted exactly as they are. A place where they can talk about what’s on their mind or not talk at all if they’re not ready yet.

Many parents worry that bringing up difficult feelings might make things worse. But talking doesn’t create these thoughts. It creates connection. It lets a child know they don’t have to carry everything alone.

Our animals help in ways words sometimes can’t.
They offer comfort, calm, and unconditional acceptance. They create a space where children can put down their worries for a while, get out of their heads, and just be children.

If your child is struggling, know that they don’t have to face it alone. And neither do you. ❤️

This past week, we moved mountains!

For the past 2 days, we joined forces during and worked side by side with an incredible group of volunteers from the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, together with their partners and children. What they achieved here in just two days is beyond words.

Shelters were built, fences were moved, picnic tables and storage racks were assembled, new feeding stations for our horses were created and we tackled the biggest painting project ever, our entire pipe paddock is now beautifully painted and our fences are officially PINK.

Earlier this week, the holes were drilled and together with we started leveling and cementing the poles so we could immediately begin building the shelters during the weekend. And wow… the amount of work that got done during Cura Doet was unbelievable. Our horses now have an extra dry area to stand, the roof of the outdoor classroom is finished, there’s a new hay feeding area to reduce waste and another hundred small jobs were completed with so much love and dedication.

This week the volunteers will continue finishing the outdoor classroom.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support from our community:
💗 Building materials sponsored by .curacao
💗 Holes drilled free of charge by Bryan
💗 Tools generously loaned by
💗 Drinks for all volunteers sponsored by

It’s truly special to have a network around us that believes in our mission: creating a safe place for children and animals who need one most.

A THOUSAND TIMES THANK YOU for your help, support, trust and belief in what we do. We will keep doing what we do best, now on a beautifully renewed property with gorgeous pink fences. 😏

The alarm bells are ringing.

According to the news report of April 20th, the number of children requiring specialized care and education support has risen from 983 in 2020 to 1,704 in 2025. The demand for support is growing faster than the available help, leading to waiting lists, capacity problems and shortages of specialized teachers.

Most of this growth is seen in children with learning difficulties, developmental disorders, psychosocial challenges and behavioral problems.

And we feel this every single day.

Our phone keeps ringing with the same heartbreaking question: “Do you still have a place for this child?”

Children who are struggling emotionally.
Children who cannot cope in the regular system.
Children who simply need a safe place to land.

And how do you say no to a child?

My dream has always been to create a care farm for children and for animals, who have nowhere safe to go. A place where healing, connection and calm come first.

But the need is becoming overwhelming.

How do we continue without structural government support?
Where do these children go when every place is full?
What happens when the answer becomes “no”?

Right now, we are working hard to adjust our schedule so we can create more opportunities for daytime care programs. This coming weekend, during Cura Doet, we’ll be building an outdoor classroom. Creating space for a new daytime care group alongside our Farmclub.

We are incredibly grateful that all building materials for the new classroom have been sponsored by .curacao ♥️

But we cannot do this alone.

Are you or do you know a company willing to sponsor us so we can create more safe places for these children?

We need your support now more than ever. 🤍

FUNDRAISER FOR THE ANIMALS!

On May 24th, we are hosting a special fundraiser for our rescue animals and we would love for you to be part of it!

Many of our animals come from difficult situations and need extra medical care, including dental treatments, bloodwork and hoof care. We are also working hard to improve the shelters for our donkeys and goats and hope to purchase an extra container for hay storage to keep them comfortable and well cared for all year round.

Our animals receive love and care day and night and in return, they bring comfort, joy and special moments to the children. Keeping this safe place running means everything to us, but we can’t do it alone.

Every donation, every share, and every bit of support truly makes a difference 🤍

DM, email or WhatsApp us to sign up or for more information. Together, we can continue giving these animals the care they deserve!

♥️♥️♥️

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our beloved Ted 💔

Our big, gentle giant. With his soft nature and endless patience, he was truly special, especially for the children. He seemed to know exactly what someone needed and gave so much comfort, warmth and trust.

Lately, his health had been declining. First, a severe colic attack, when we thought we were going to lose him… but miraculously, he recovered. A week later, he suffered a seizure with lasting effects. He could no longer walk properly and was often confused. And still… he kept enjoying life. The attention, the walks together, running a few laps in the arena and peacefully grazing.

Until last week. He had a setback and could no longer do the things that made him happy. With heavy hearts, we made the difficult decision to let him go in a dignified and honorable way.

The paddock feels empty. It feels like a huge loss and it hurts deeply. But for our dear Ted, this was the kindest choice ❤️

He meant so much to children who were going through a hard time and for that we are incredibly grateful. Grateful for all the love, warmth and cuddles he gave us.

Rest easy, sweet Ted ✨

Meet Frida: our tiny dramatic mula!
On her first day she flopped on the ground
and we were like:

‘UM—HELLO?!’ 😳

But nope… just her preferred
‘I’m totally fine, don’t call 911’ nap pose.

She sleeps flat as a pancake,
Our adorable little drama nap queen.

TED UPDATE

These past weeks have been incredibly tough for our sweet Ted. ♥️
He suffered a severe colic attack that sent him into shock and for a moment he even stopped breathing. Against all odds, he pulled through. After a week of recovering, he had another strange episode and since then he just hasn’t been himself.

After many checks, watching him closely and ruling things out, we’re almost certain he’s had a stroke or something went wrong in his brain. Some days he’s confused, grumpy or frustrated and his hind legs sometimes struggle to keep up. But in his heart, he still wants to try.

He’s 27, yet he still enjoys his walks, grazing in the field and getting pampered with brushing and baths. He’s not ready to go and neither are we. He’s taken a special place in our hearts in such a short time.

Right now, our focus is on keeping everything comfortable, clear and predictable for him, so he can hopefully enjoy many more gentle days with us.

Love you, Ted. Always!

If you’d like to support Ted, you can donate through the GoFundMe page linked in our highlights. ♥️

OOPS I DID IT AGAIN!

Welcome dear Frida ♥️

This little lady is truly one of a kind (they all are… but still).
Frida’s dad is a horse and her mom is a donkey, which makes her a hinny.

Why is that so special?
Because hinnies are incredibly rare!
The pairing happens less often, and even when it does,
the chances of a successful pregnancy are very small.
That makes sweet Frida a miracle on four legs ✨

Welcome to our kpk family!
We’re already in love♥️
