Introducing our superstars - III.

In 2020, we were looking for a new addition to our broodmare herd—the selection criteria were (apart from sufficient type, of course) unrelatedness, good movement, size, and a strong, successful dam line.

The decision fell on the dark buckskin mare Borte MiD, born in 2017 at the MiD (Altyn Tai) stud farm in Kazakhstan, a representative of the old Everdy Teleke line.

Borte’s sire is the CEI* 2nd-placed, the grey Ayrat MiD, holder of the Selection Hope title (Kazakhstan Championship “Absent 2011”), son of stallion 1326 Akdagly, winner of the senior stallion category and Reserve Champion of the “Star of Turkestan 2007” championship.

Borte’s dam is the Champion of Kazakhstan, 3675 Maslina, born at the Stavropol Stud. Maslina is the full sister of the Junior Champion of Russia, Magistral; the dam of both is 2797 Margaritka, the full sister of the legendary champions and sires Murgab and Mangyt.

Borte represents an old Kazakh family founded by the mare 417 Fantin (4 Ag Ishan-Bike, 269 Everdy Teleke), a bay mare born in 1926 at the Turtkul Stud. From there, in 1931, she moved, along with other mares, to the Dzhambul Stud, where she produced a total of 10 offspring; all her daughters were included in the breeding program at her native stud. The Fantin family expanded primarily through the daughters Falmarzhan, 1008 Fakma, and 1015 Fialka. In addition to Kazakhstan itself, this family is strongly represented in Russia (for example, there are currently 21 members of the Fantin family in the broodmare herd of the Stavropol Stud), and it also has representatives in Europe and the USA.

Borte arrived at our farm in the fall of 2020, carrying a "bonus" in the form of a pregnancy by Sammit MiD, the Junior Champion of the Central Asian Championship "Star of Turkestan," who has also proven himself in endurance competitions. From this mating, the filly Baljan ATT was born in February 2021. Two more offspring followed: Däri-Derman ATT (Darbek), a golden bay with a rabicano pattern born in 2022, and Safna ATT (Saladdin), a dark bay born in 2024. This year, Borte MiD was bred to the stallion Dastan ATT.

Introducing our superstars - II.

In the spirit of gender balance, we are introducing as the second representative of our Teke team, stallion Darbek, born in 2009 at K. Zakariev’s stud farm in Dagestan.

Darbek is the son of Russian Champion 1478 Dartai (1184 Desmal-2706 Daria), out of 3478 Drama (1227 Makat-2713 Djamna), and belongs to El-Sovkhoz 2 line and Kepderi family.

As a 2- 3 years-old, Darbek completed a racing career with a rating of 7 points—he started a total of 12 times (winning 2, finishing 2nd 3 times, and 3rd 2 times), taking second place in the Gundogar Prize (Little Derby), Prize of Zakrytia, and third in Prize of Mazan; as a three-year-old, he ran the season’s fastest time of Pyatigorsk racetrack over 1,400 meters.

At the end of 2015, he was imported to Europe—although M. Hubmann (Austria) remained his owner until 2024, Darbek has been a resident of our farm from the very beginning.

In 2016, he participated in the Corona Bohemiae Cup international Akhal-Teke championship, where he won his class, earned the title of Champion Stallion, Reserve Champion of the Show, and Selection Hope, and also added a victory in the Movement Evaluation contest. In the same year, he began his breeding career.

Darbek does not stand out in height (height 156 cm), but he is a correctly built stallion with very good movement, a good topline, and a strong croup. He has a very positive attitude toward work; he does not get frustrated if something doesn’t go his way and, on the contrary, actively offers other possible solutions 😊.
He passes on a correct conformation with a strong topline and good movement to his offspring. He is currently sire of 19 foals; the highest performance achieved so far in endurance Yamuna styr-eha (4th place CEI* 100 km).

Darbek’s son Dastan ATT (out of Pomona) is used in breeding, licensed is also Dikran ATT (son of World Champion Omeliya), though he is not used yet.

Introducing our superstars - I.

Currently, the oldest member of our broodmare herd is Dijanitra ATT, who was born here in 2011.
A correct, typical mare with excellent movement, who is very people-oriented, loves ground work and circus tricks, she is a descendant of stallion 1437 Germes (Ak Sakal line), son of breed champion 999 Munir and mare 2209 Granka, producer of successful racehorses (1403 Gadjar, 1401 Daihan, 3342 Giliana, etc.).
Dijanitra's dam is our "foundation" mare 2698 Davenda (1195 Ekemen-2724 Dogadka), imported from Russia, dam of Karakhan, who placed third at the World AT Championship, European Junior Champion Jana-Jan, champion of the Uruguayan El Prado show, and Dijanitra's full brother Galadaw or dam of breeding stallion 1473 Damask.
As a yearling, Dijanitra placed 3rd in her category at European Distant Championship, in 2015 she won category of 3-4 years old fillies (European Grading Tour) and one year later she placed 2nd at CBC Championship, where she got also title of Selection hope.

Dijanitra belongs to the family founded by mare 1252 Kepderi, who was among the mares selected by V. P. Shamborant for the maternal herd of the Akhal-Teke division at the Tersk stud farm in 60.ies. The roots of this family go back to one of the mares of Trans-Caspian studfarm, namely 230 Karali, a grey mare born in 1915, dam of 192 Jeren-Gul (175 Mele Kush), granddam of 969 Temri (044 Tillya Kush) and thus greatgranddam of 1252 Kepderi (Terkush).
Kepderi's family spread out mostly through her daughters 1488 Djahan (801 Spesivii), 1590 Lolla (697 Gelishikli) and 2350 Leili (Ballar). Among her representatives, we find horses that have been successful in shows (1590 Lolla, 987 Djagitai), as well as horses that have been successful on the track (e.g., Derby winner 1056 Dasht) or in endurance (100-mile runner Gyshgun, Durkhal-Shael, etc.). This family has representatives all over the world and is widely represented at the Shael stud farm in Russia.
Dijanitra has three foals on the ground, the oldest one lives in Croatia (stallion Dalir, by Darbek), the middle one in Hungary (mare Dakpa-Sheri, by Shergir) and the youngest in Denmark (filly Darejan, by Dastan). This year, we plan to breed Dijanitra with Shergir, the 2017 European Absolute Champion.

Our first purebred Akhal-Teke filly bred by us is celebrating her 20th birthday today!
Jana-Jan (which translates from Turkmen as "dearly loved," which perfectly describes our relationship) was born on February 10, 2006, in the early morning hours, and from an early age she was the kind of foal that had no problems with anything, accepting everything with complete naturalness, from putting on a halter, being led, to lifting her legs... She remained a lady even as an adult, although she knows how to express her opinion.
Jana-Jan's sire was the golden buckskin 1584 Mingam (1069 Kortik - 2841 Mimoza), imported from the Akhalt-Service stud farm, Toporbai line, a versatile, athletic stallion who excelled in speed, good movement, and jumping technique. Jan-Jan's mother was the mare 2698 Davenda (1195 Ekemen-2724 Dogadka), from the same stud farm, El line. Davenda had already attracted attention at her home stud farm, where her first foal was the black stallion 1528 Karahan (1228 Maksut 2), who placed third at the World Championships in Moscow as a two-year-old. Her second offspring, 1473 Damask (1122 Aksum), was also born at Akhalt-Service and was actively used as a stud in the Czech Republic in Zdenka Skopalová's breeding program.
Jana-Jan is in**ed III x IV to the stallion 949 Dornazarbek, IV x V to 866 Vatanchi, and also V, V, V x VI, V to the stallion 682 Almaz. She belongs to the family of mare 1252 Kepderi (Terkush-969 Temri), who was one of the mares selected by V. P. Schamborant for the broodmares herd at Tersk stud farm.
Jana-Jan became our first champion - at our debut at the European Championships in Gut Ising in 2008, she won the title of European Junior Champion. Her offspring followed in her footsteps - the title of European Junior Champion 2012 was won by her daughter Jangi (1685 Samurai), and Shergir ATT (1685 Samurai) became the Absolute Champion of Europe in 2017. Virtually all of Jana-Jan's offspring evaluated by VNIIK inspectors have been classified in the Elite class.
Jana-Jan is the mother of nine foals, which have found homes literally all over Europe.
Jana-Jan has been retired since 2021, but as an aunt, she still participates in raising future generations of Tukleky Akhaltekes. Good health, Jana-Jan!

number of horses with soft topline and sickle hocks, as well as some general improvement in their conformation. This is to the credit of zootechnicians. At the same time, unfortunately, most
horses are losing their original type and unique gracefulness — something that has been specially selected and maintained for centuries by Turkmen horse breeders, as well as by many zootechnicians who have been breeding Akhal-Teke horses in recent decades."

Breeding plan for 2026
I wondered whether it made sense to breed at all, given that European Akhal-Teke breeding and the market are primarily focused on color (and, if possible, low price), but in the end we have decided to breed three of our mares:

Dijanitra ATT (1437 Germes-2698 Davenda), Ak Sakal line x Kepderi family
Dijanitra was born in 2011, and at the age of 4 she placed 1st in the category of 3-4 year old fillies during the European grading tour. One year later, she placed 2nd in her category at the international AT championship (CBC 2016). She has 3 foals on the ground.
We plan to cover her with European Absolute Champion of 2017 Shergir ATT (1685 Samurai - 3513 Jana-Jan, 1584 Mingam), Fakirpelvan line x Kepderi family.

Borte MiD (Ayrat MiD - 3675 Maslina), Everdy Teleke line x Fantin family
Borte was imported from Kazakhstan in 2020. She is the daughter of CEI* 2nd placed Ayrat MiD, out of Kazakhstan champion Maslina (full sister to Russian champion Magistral, both being daughters of Murgab's full sister Margaritka). Tall mare, with good movement, dam of three foals.
We plan to cover her with Dastan ATT (Darbek - Pomona), El-Sovkhoz 2 line, Ovgan family - not tall, but a typey stallion with good movement and speed, son of Champion of Stallions and successful at the racetrack Darbek, out of Pomona, twice 3rd place at the Kazakhstan championship, daughter of World Reserve Champion Olimpia.

Baljan ATT (Sammit MiD-Borte MiD), El-Sovkhoz 2 line x Fantin family
Baljan was imported in utero, she is daughter of Sammit MiD, Junior champion of Star of Turkestan championship (Uzbekistan), CEI qualified stallion.
Baljan will be covered for the first time by Darbek (1478 Dartai - 3478 Drama), El-Sovkhoz 2, Kepderi family. Darbek, son of Russian champion Dartai, had a successful racing career, acquiring the title of Champion of Stallions and Absolute Reserve Champion at the international AT championship CBC 2016, where he also won the Movement Evaluation Contest. His daughter Yamuna Styr-eha placed 4th at CEI* 100 km.
