Recent floods in Aceh, and the september floods in Bali keep us reminding, that without a good understanding of the weather and local hydrological conditions, we are in for some serious problems. Whether its floods, drought or water pollution, they are all symptoms of the same disease. Water resources mismanagement. That's why, for Bali, I'm proposing a a platform for real time and historical water resources monitoring. Based on privately owned weather stations and water sensors, we can gain a better understanding of where water falls and where it flows to. Yesterday was extreme in terms of rainfall in Kedungu, Tabanan...257mm of rain in 24hrs and more than three hundred if the preceding night is counted too. 10km to the south, a mere tenth of the rain.
