🏗️ We are making room for further growth!

Following the expansion of our office facilities, the next major development at our headquarters is already underway: we are adding another 2,900 m² of space to our production site. 🚜📐

The reason is simple: our order books are full, our projects are growing, and so are the wastewater treatment systems we manufacture. An increasing number of containers are currently passing through our production facilities and occupying our site before being shipped to customers around the world. 🌍💧

To handle existing orders efficiently and provide sufficient capacity for future large-scale projects, we need more room. This expansion allows us to increase our production capacity while remaining firmly rooted at our headquarters.

We are committed to continuously developing this site, strengthening our capabilities and creating the space needed to deliver reliable wastewater treatment solutions for projects of every scale. 💪⚙️

💧 Wastewater treatment without electricity.

For a municipality in South Africa, PPU Umwelttechnik and local partner Wolfwasser developed a robust decentralized wastewater treatment solution for 50 PE. The goal was clear: reliable treatment performance without dependence on unstable power supply. 🌍

Instead of building a completely new plant, the existing settlement tanks were integrated into the new concept. Several ClearFox® Nature biomodules now provide passive biological treatment — without pumps, blowers, motors or electrical controls. ⚙️

The system uses natural hydraulic flow and air circulation to treat domestic wastewater reliably, while reducing maintenance needs and operational risks at a remote location.

The current solution provides:

✅ Fully electricity-free wastewater treatment
✅ Integration into existing settlement tanks
✅ Low-maintenance operation without mechanical components
✅ Reliable biological treatment for remote communities
✅ Reduced construction effort and investment costs

For a municipal wastewater treatment plant in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, PPU Umwelttechnik delivered a ClearFox® C-30 containerized treatment plant for 30 m³ of domestic wastewater per day. 🌴

The system replaces an ageing rotating biological contactor that had become an increasing operational risk. At a remote island location, technical failures, spare parts availability and maintenance requirements are critical factors. The new ClearFox® C-30 provides a robust plug-and-play solution that integrates into the existing wastewater infrastructure with limited on-site work. ⚙️

The compact system combines fixed-bed biological treatment and lamella clarification in one containerized unit. This reduces mechanical wear, improves operational reliability and saves valuable space compared to conventional treatment and clarification systems.

💧 Upgrading instead of rebuilding – a compact solution for municipal wastewater treatment 🇩🇪

An ageing lagoon treatment plant in Germany, was increasingly struggling with major fluctuations between dry- and wet-weather conditions.

During rainfall, high inflow volumes placed significant hydraulic stress on the biological treatment. 🌧️
During dry periods, lower flows resulted in much higher pollutant concentrations.☀️

Instead of constructing an entirely new wastewater treatment plant, the municipality chose a compact ClearFox® upgrade.

⚙️ The solution includes:
✅ A dual-pump station for controlled hydraulic loading
✅ A ClearFox® FBR for stable biological treatment
✅ A ClearFox® lamella clarifier for efficient solids separation

The entire treatment technology is integrated into compact container modules, keeping civil works on site to a minimum. And thanks to the modular design, the system remains flexible for future expansion. 📈

From order placement to delivery and installation, the project took only around six months. 🚀

Today, the upgraded plant reliably treats the municipality’s wastewater and meets the required discharge limits – without the need for a complete new-build solution.

🔄 Rotationstauchkörper ertüchtigen statt Kläranlage neu bauen

Viele Rotationstauchkörper aus den 1980er- und 1990er-Jahren arbeiten noch heute zuverlässig. Steigende Belastungen, veränderte Zulaufbedingungen und strengere Ammoniumgrenzwerte bringen die vorhandene Biologie jedoch zunehmend an ihre Grenzen.

Bei einer kommunalen Kläranlage in Bayern reichte die Nitrifikationsleistung des bestehenden Rotationstauchkörpers nicht mehr aus. Ein kompletter Neubau oder der Bau einer Pumpstation wären mit hohen Kosten und langen Bauzeiten verbunden gewesen.

Die Lösung: Ein ClearFox® FBR-Festbettcontainer wurde als zusätzliche biologische Reinigungsstufe in den bestehenden Prozess integriert. Der Rotationstauchkörper bleibt erhalten, die Nitrifikation wird gezielt verstärkt und die vorhandene Infrastruktur weiterhin genutzt.

Die Ergebnisse:

💧 NH₄-N: von 65 mg/l auf unter 5 mg/l
💧 CSB: von 410 mg/l auf 55 mg/l
💧 BSB₅: von 230 mg/l auf 14 mg/l

Stable performance depends on the interaction between influent characteristics, hydraulic loading, biological treatment, secondary clarification and sludge management. Wet-weather peaks, limited space and ageing infrastructure add further complexity.

In Germany, standards such as DWA-A 131, DWA-A 222, DWA-A 226 and DWA-A 281 provide the technical framework for selecting and designing suitable treatment processes. 📐🔬

Many rotating biological contactor systems have been operating reliably for 25 years or more. However, increasing wastewater loads, hydraulic peaks, ageing mechanical components and stricter discharge limits are pushing many existing plants to their capacity limits.

A modular ClearFox® fixed-bed reactor provides an efficient way to upgrade the biological treatment stage. The containerised system increases treatment capacity, stabilises effluent quality and integrates into the existing infrastructure with limited civil works. 🏗️💧

For BP’s Galeota Terminal in Trinidad and Tobago, PPU Umwelttechnik delivered a ClearFox® C-30 containerized wastewater treatment plant for 30 m³ of wastewater per day. The new system replaces an ageing treatment plant that no longer achieved the required effluent values reliably. 🌍⚙️

The ClearFox® C-30 combines primary settlement, hydraulic equalization, fixed-bed biological treatment, lamella clarification and final disinfection in one compact 20 ft container.
