PIE FACTS 101 🥧

The original pie wasn’t really for eating..

In medieval Britain, savoury pies were baked inside thick pastry shells called coffins. These sturdy crusts acted more like food storage containers than part of the meal, helping preserve meat for days before refrigeration existed.

The filling was the prize. The pastry? Often discarded or given away.

Turns out the first meal-prep containers were edible. Sort of.
