Many digital transformation projects happen behind the scenes. They are shaped by workshops, testing, training sessions, decisions and countless hours of collaboration. However, our Stern4HANA project stepped into the spotlight: our colleagues Sven Dudzik, Director Digital Transformation and Jรฉrรดme Cron, Head of Digital Project Portfolio & Demand Management, attended the SAP Quality Awards 2026, where the project was awarded 2nd place in the category โ€œBusiness Transformation - Cloudโ€. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿคฉ

Among the thousands of runners around Hamburgโ€™s HafenCity, our red shirts were easy to spot once again: 60 colleagues from across our group joined this yearโ€™s charity run. Some took on the route with sporting ambition, while others enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with colleagues along the way. With plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures and enthusiastic support along the course, the atmosphere could not have been better.

As Lisa Teoh, Sustainability Manager and organiser of our running team, shared: โ€œWhat makes the HafenCity Run special is bringing together colleagues who rarely meet in their daily work. That creates a strong sense of team spirit.โ€

Looking back, our journey with this event began exactly for 20 years, when twelve colleagues represented us at the then HSH Nordbank Run. The route has changed and the event now carries a different name. What remains unchanged is the spirit behind it: being active together and contributing to a good cause.

And judging by the conversations and smiles after crossing the finish line, this certainly will not be our last HafenCity Run.

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming guests to the opening of the new exhibition โ€œDanke fรผr die Blumenโ€ (โ€žThank you for the flowersโ€œ). Ten artists explore the motif of flowers in very different ways โ€“ from hyperrealistic works and textile sculptures to abstract paintings and Junk Art. The result is a diverse and inspiring panorama of contemporary artistic approaches.

The evening was filled with inspiring conversations, new perspectives, and a shared appreciation for creativity and mastery. We would like to thank all guests and artists who made this vernissage such a special occasion.

Intensive technical discussions and strong customer interest: Bakery China 2026 once again highlighted how dynamic the industrial bakery market in Asia continues to be. Last week in Shanghai, our affiliate Stern Ingredients China welcomed visitors from across the industry and presented practical solutions tailored to current market demands.

Together, the teams showcased five key focus areas including Clean Label, Freeze Thaw, High Protein, Nutrient Fortification and Sourdough. One highlight was the successful launch of the Frozen-to-Fresh solution for Swiss Rolls โ€“ a joint project by our subsidiaries DeutscheBack and Hydrosol combining application expertise and market understanding.

The fair also created space for valuable customer discussions and close collaboration between local and global teams. As Penny Wang, Marketing Manager at Stern Ingredients China, shared: โ€œCustomers see us as solution providers and not just suppliers.โ€

Bakery China 2026 once again showed how global expertise and local market knowledge can work hand in hand to create practical solutions for customers worldwide.

Our subsidiary Mรผhlenchemie has significantly expanded its pasta technology expertise with a globally unique extrusion press. Combined with the dryer installed three years ago, the setup now reproduces the complete industrial pasta production process on a pilot scale โ€“ from mixing and kneading to shaping and drying. ๐Ÿ

The tailor-made extrusion press from Fava S.p.A. operates with vertical extrusion and continuously collects process data throughout production. Combined with specially developed software, this enables our teams to better understand pasta processing and the impact of enzyme-based solutions.

โ€œWe can now not only reproduce industrial conditions with great precision, but also identify correlations that previously remained hidden through digitalisation and AI-supported analysis,โ€ says Agostino Coppola, Senior Pasta Technologist at Mรผhlenchemie.

A day full of questions, hands-on experiences and first insights into the working world: for Girlsโ€™ & Boysโ€™ Day 2026, we welcomed young visitors to our laboratories and production sites.

Instead of theory, the focus was on doing, from laboratory experiments to production processes. Whether preparing pizza, plant-based nuggets and ice cream in our Stern-Technology Center in Ahrensburg, creating individual chocolate bars in Norderstedt or mixing mayonnaise and baking mug cakes in Wittenburg, curiosity led the way.
โ€œEspecially the tour through production, where every question was welcome, was great fun - we hope we were able to spark enthusiasm for our professions and are already looking forward to next year!โ€ - Marcel Bornholdt, Team Lead Laboratory and Data Management at SternLife.

What does it take to turn emerging trends into tangible solutions? At in-cosmetics Global in Paris, our subsidiary Berg+Schmidt Care Ingredients explored exactly this question over three days of intensive exchange and innovation.

A central highlight was the presentation of the new hair care range, addressing key movements such as lightweight repair and the growing convergence of skin and hair care concepts. The concept was also featured in the Innovation Zone and presented in a dedicated technical seminar, underlining the scientific depth behind the concept.

With an anniversary celebration, we marked 20 years of our subsidiary SternVitamin - two decades defined by expertise, bold decisions and, above all, the people who have shaped this journey.

What began as a specialised unit within Mรผhlenchemie evolved in 2006 into an independent brand. Since then, SternVitamin has steadily expanded its capabilities, from dedicated analytics and structured quality processes to a broad portfolio of micronutrient premix solutions addressing health and lifestyle needs.

The celebration brought together colleagues to reflect on key milestones and to look ahead. Our CEO Torsten Wywiol opened the event, followed by insights into the 2030 strategy from Karl Chang, Managing Director at SternVitamin and Dr. Matthias Moser, Managing Director Food Ingredients Division, highlighting future priorities and closer collaboration with partners.

Chocolate is deeply rooted in everyday life and precisely because it feels so familiar, many assumptions surround it. together with our subsidiary HERZA, we took a closer look to explore what is really behind some of the most common beliefs.

White chocolate, for example, is often questioned - yet it is indeed real chocolate, made from cocoa butter, a valuable component of the cocoa bean, giving it its characteristic smooth texture. And terms like milk chocolate or dark chocolate? Far from being marketing language, they reflect clearly defined compositions and characteristics, from cocoa content to flavour profile. While darker chocolate typically contains more cocoa and less sugar, making it nutritionally interesting, it remains a product to be enjoyed consciously.

What becomes clear: chocolate is far more than a sweet indulgence. It is a complex ingredient shaped by expertise, raw materials, and precise processing. This is exactly where our colleagues at HERZA apply their knowledge every day.
