The hop season continues in the Hallertau 🌱

We’re back in the fields, following the growers who bring it to life! Today we’re in Unterempfenbach.

Many hands are needed now, even the little ones! Training season has begun. Each shoot is carefully guided by hand, setting the direction for the weeks of growth ahead.

Step by step, row by row, the work continues.

A new hop season continues in the Hallertau 🌱

We’re back in the fields, following the season from the point of view of the growers who bring it to life.

Today, Johannes shows you the circular cultivating.

It’s careful, precise work, but that concentration pays off, saving valuable time later during training and setting the plants up for a strong start.

A different perspective on hop growing starts with experience.

Through the BarthHaas Hops & Travel programme, young growers from the Hallertau spend time working alongside teams at Hop Products Australia, gaining first-hand insight into how hop production operates in a different climate and at a different scale.

Anna’s time in Australia highlights the value of that exchange, hands-on experience across the harvest, exposure to new techniques, and a broader understanding of the industry.

It’s about sharing knowledge, building connections, and growing together.

The BarthHaas Hops & Travel programme gives young hop growers the opportunity to gain practical experience beyond their home region.

By working alongside teams at Hop Products Australia during harvest, participants develop a deeper understanding of cultivation, processing, and how hop production adapts across different environments.

Anna’s experience in Australia demonstrates the value of this exchange, combining technical learning with new perspectives that support long-term development in hop growing.

Programmes like this strengthen collaboration across the global hop industry and support the next generation of growers.

A new hop season continues in the Hallertau 🌱

We’re back in the fields, following the season from the point of view of the growers who bring it to life.

Today, we’re up on the platform for stringing, preparing the hop gardens for the season ahead. The wires are carefully attached to create the structure the hop shoots will climb as they grow.

It may look simple, but it’s more than just tying knots. Precision, timing, and experience all play a role in setting the foundation for a successful harvest.

A new hop season begins in the Hallertau 🌱

We’re back in the fields with Kathrin and Tobias, but this year we’re looking at things from a different angle, stepping into the boots of a hop grower and experiencing the growing season from their point of view!

We start the series today hop cutting with Matthias on his farm in Straßberg, where he grows five different aroma and high-alpha varieties.

We’re celebrating an important milestone for our Growers’ Advisory Board, a moment to say thank you and welcome.

Founded in 2002, the Growers’ Advisory Board brings together active hop-growing farms from the Hallertau and Tettnang regions. It provides a forum to discuss the issues shaping our industry and to strengthen cooperation with BarthHaas through practical, shared solutions for the future.

Our sincere thanks go to the members who are stepping off the Board for their time, perspective, and commitment: Josefa Bachmeier, Franz Xaver Hobmaier, Ernst Habazettl, Peter Neumaier, Rudolf Pfab, and Konrad Brunner. A special acknowledgement to Konrad Brunner, a founding member and Chairman since 2002, for more than two decades of steady leadership.

We’re pleased to welcome new members Thomas Handschuh, Thomas Schels, Christoph Heidingsfelder, Erhard Baumeister, and Albert Ostermeier, and to confirm the Board’s continued continuity with three reappointments. We also congratulate Michael Bergmaier on his appointment as Chairman.

We’re looking forward to the next term, continuing the open dialogue, tackling challenges together, and building what comes next for growers and the hop industry.

Weak head retention? 🍺 There’s a fix.

Mark from our Brewing Solutions team breaks down how Tetrop Gold helps boost foam and improve head stability, even when proteins, hopping, fermentation health, carbonation, alcohol, or water chemistry are working against you.

See the side-by-side: beer with vs. without Tetrop. ✨
