The Pronutro Saga.
We have received an update from the manufacturers of the Pronutro and it is not good news.
Just to explain what happened for those of you who may not know the whole story, but the manufacturers of the Pronutro took the decision to build a new factory for the production of the Pronutro because the old factory was too old and it would cost even more to update the old machinery and they could not get parts for the old machinery.
The old factory closed in October last year and the new factory opened in March this year. The problem came in because the new factory could not make the Pronutro in the same way the old machinery made the Pronutro and hence they had to change the texture of the cereal as well as the recipe.
The new Pronutro was launched in March, but the company did not realise that there was a strong support of the old formula and texture and that the Pronutro has a long history with the older generation and the new formula back fired as the manufacturers thought the younger generation would adapt to the new formula and there would not be an issue. They did not reach out to the consumers to get their opinions.
As we all know now, this was not the case and the manufacturers are still trying to figure out how to resolve this issue. We have been advised that the Pronutro will not be produced for the rest of this year unfortunately and they cannot go back to the old formula as the old factory as been dismantled, so we do not know how this issue is going to be resolved.
If we do get any further information on the Pronutro, we will always advise you, but please take note that there will not be any Pronutro for the rest of this year.
