Do you know „Kelterbier“?

We finished the last rows, brought the grapes home and got the final press running.

Then we left it doing its job and headed over to .wittmann with the whole team. They had invited us and all the Westhofen im Glas w**emakers for Kelterbier.

Especially during harvest, when everyone is busy with their own vineyards and cellars, it’s good to find some time to sit down together, exchange and hear how things are going next door. So while the last grapes were slowly being pressed in the different w**eries,we had good dinner, a few glasses of w**e, some b**r and finally some time to catch up.

Thanks to Eva & for a really nice evening. And for getting us out of the w**ery for a few hours.

First day of Riesling in the Kirchspiel.

Full buckets, beautiful grapes and a very happy team.
Olivia came all the way from the US to join us for harvest this year and already looks pretty comfortable in our Kirchspiel.

A good start. More Riesling to come.

Finally out. BENN Spätburgunder 2024.

Yesterday we release the second vintage of our BENN Spätburgunder.

Looking back at harvest 2024 feels pretty special. BENN our monopoly and a very personal project for us. In 2022, we started grafting some of our oldest vines here with Spätburgunder genetics from Chambolle-Musigny. The idea was simple. We wanted to find out what Spätburgunder can do in this little piece of Westhofen, on our limestone soils. 2024 was our second harvest. Tiny yields, picked by hand and carefully selected. We destemmed most of the grapes by hand, keeping around 20% as whole bunches for fermentation. Two years later, it’s finally here.

Yesterday we started early again.

A cool morning followed by sunshine and perfect conditions for picking our sparkling base w**e.

We harvested Spätburgunder at 78° Oechsle for our very first Blanc de Noirs. Beautiful, healthy grapes which makes us more than happy. Picked by hand and brought straight home.

Tête de cuvée. Cleaning. Feierabend.

A new chapter for us and a project we’ve been looking forward to for quite a while.

Harvest 2026 — here we go.

Yesterday we picked the first grapes of the vintage: Chardonnay from our Westhofener Steingrube.

Cooler temperatures arrived just in time, the team is back together and we couldn’t be more motivated for the weeks ahead. Early mornings, long days, lots of hands, vineyard lunches and probably even more cake :). The first grapes look beautiful and we’re very happy with what we see so far.

And while all this was happening, we had .pigott visiting us at the w**ery. So good to have you with us, Stuart. thanks for stopping by and sharing the first day of harvest with us!

Which is also why the first press of 2026 somehow didn’t make it into this video ;).

Day one done.

Despite the dry summer, our vineyards are showing an incredible balance. Healthy grapes, small berries, beautiful concentration and a freshness that makes us very happy.

Right now, we’re out there every day, tasting, checking and waiting for the right moment.

And that moment is getting very close.

On Tuesday, we’ll start harvest 2026 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for our sparkling base w**es.

Probably our earliest harvest ever.

Excited about what we see.
Ready for what’s coming.

The vineyard is changing colour. Veraison has started in our Spätburgunder parcels in Benn. A small milestone that quietly reminds us: harvest is getting closer. One berry at a time.

Another early & beautiful start @ Westhofener Morstein. Right now our days are all about careful handwork. Leaf removal for healthy, balanced fruit. Yield reduction to give every remaining bunch the best chance to express its site.
