Some visits stay with you long after the last bottle has been opened.

Over the past few days, we had the pleasure of welcoming Lital from in the Golan Heights to Westhofen. Through the initiative, a partnership between wineries from Germany and Israel, we were brought together by wine. What we found was much more than that.

We spent time in the vineyards and the cellar, shared meals, opened bottles, exchanged ideas and stories. We talked about wine, but also about life, family, challenges and hopes for the future. We laughed together. At times, we cried together.

What started as a winery partnership quickly felt like the beginning of a friendship.

One of the highlights of the week was the German-Israeli Wine Summit in Mainz on Monday. Seeing so many people come together through wine, curiosity and conversation was both inspiring and moving.

Wine cannot solve the world’s problems. But it can bring people to the same table. It can create understanding, connection and friendship where there was none before.

Thank you, Lital, for your openness, your trust and your friendship. We are grateful to be part of this journey and look forward to continuing it together.

Mid-June in Westhofen.

While shoot positioning is slowly coming to an end, another important vineyard task is beginning in some of our favourite parcels: wrapping the shoots.

Together with Lital from our Israeli Twin Winery , we’re currently spending a lot of time in our Spätburgunder parcel in our monopoly Benn. Instead of trimming the shoots, we carefully guide and wrap them around the top wire, working with the vine’s natural growth rather than cutting it back.

Why do we do this? By keeping the shoot tip intact, the vine continues to grow upwards instead of putting energy into excessive side shoots. More leaf area is preserved, the fruit zone stays airy, and the vine can focus its energy where we want it.

It’s one of those vineyard jobs that takes time, patience and attention to detail. Not particularly spectacular at first glance, but one of the many small decisions that can make a difference later on.

A cooler week in the vineyards and for once, we were quite happy about it.

The lower temperatures slowed down growth a little, giving us some breathing room during a phase where timing matters. Over the last weeks we’ve been working our way through the first round of shoot thinning. Guiding the vines and creating balance early in the season. Tomorrow, we’ll finish the first round — just before the heat arrives.

You can already see the next steps taking shape: flowering slowly approaching, tiny bunches visible, poppies in bloom between the rows and a vineyard changing almost daily.

Next up: shoot positioning (Heften). Keeping the canopy in order, bringing air and structure into the vines and setting the foundation for the months ahead.

The season moves quickly now. For the moment, we’re grateful for a little coolness and a bit of extra time.

3 Tage Wechsler’s Weinbar.

Was sollen wir sagen — danke.

From us, to you. Today it finally starts — Wechsler’s Wine Bar. A bit excited, a bit nervous and very much looking forward to the next days with you.

Tonight we’ll open bottles and cook in our cosy Schatzkammer. Tomorrow from 5pm we move outside into the courtyard. And on Saturday we already start from 2pm with late lunch, day drinking and plenty of wines on the list.

Good food to share. Big wine list. Older bottles from our Schatzkammer. And hopefully lots of good people around the tables.

Early growth in Westhofen.

This special parcel in Kirchspiel is now well into the vegetative phase. Shoots are extending steadily, leaf area is building, and the canopy begins to take shape.

It is a bit like 2024, but growth is more even at this stage. Last year (2025) started later and developed more slowly in the beginning. This season feels more forward so far - earlier, but balanced.

The limestone marl soils here help to buffer extremes and support a steady development. From now on, it’s about guiding growth: shoot thinning, keeping the canopy open and well aerated, and setting the base for healthy clusters.

The foundation of the vintage is laid now, step by step.

From us, to you. Join us for Wechsler’s Wine Bar in our courtyard.

7–9 May, Westhofen

We’re opening our wine bar for a few special nights
as part of our 15 year anniversary.

We’ll open bottles, cook, and create a space where people come together.

Nothing big, nothing loud — well… probably not.

Just wine, food and good company.

We’d really love to see you there.

The 2026 vintage has officially begun.

After a short break we’re back in the vineyards — watching the first leaves unfold, guiding the early growth, staying close to every row. A sensitive phase, where timing and precision matter. Now we keep our fingers crossed for no more frost nights.

If you’d like to experience this moment with us, you can visit us tomorrow and next Saturday for our Open Saturdays in April at the winery. 10am to 5pm, with wine tastings and a few small dishes from our kitchen.

The first buds are already pushing.
Everything is set for what’s to come.

In April, we open our doors every Saturday.
The new vintage in the glass, homemade Maultaschen and a few simple dishes from our kitchen.
