Last weekend, I got lost in a pink underwater wonderland!

It was a little girl’s mermaid-themed birthday, and I had the absolute joy of hosting a custom cupcake workshop. what a dream!

The party was pure magic, filled with sweet energy and wonderful girly, pink vibes. It was so charming to watch the girls play with unique color combinations, textures, and patterns to create their own incredible details.

I went in to guide them, but I ended up learning so much from them in return. They had zero boundaries with their imagination, and their creativity truly peaked!

Many thanks to the mom for trusting me with such a special event. I’ll cherish this memory for the rest of my baking journey. Happiness upgraded to so many levels! 🩷

An evening to remember 💙

Receiving an order to craft an edible figure of the divine is one thing. But being invited to the very event the cake was made for?

Watching my Krishna cake make its way to the altar, sitting with the other sacred offerings right beside the deity during the cozy bhajan evening, left me completely speechless.

What could possibly be more humbling than seeing your own work placed in such a sacred space?

I wasn’t sure if my cake truly deserved a spot up there, but the impact of that moment has only strengthened my passion and commitment to what I do. That is how this little Krishna cake earned its place on my ‘list of unforgettable cakes I made’ the ones with emotional backstories that I keep in my memory chest to fuel my work every day ❤️

Frosting is for the eyes, but fillings are for the tastebuds!

If you really want to devour a piece of cake, the magic lies in what’s layered inside. The sponge and filling go hand-in-hand to make a cake truly unforgettable.

When my clients ask for a recommendation, these are the 3 filling categories I always suggest:

1️⃣ Light & Melt-in-Your-Mouth: Think airy mousses, whipped fresh cream, silky vanilla pastry cream, and smooth cream cheese.

2️⃣ Textured & Tart: Fruit compotes, bright fruit curds, and fresh berries to balance out the sweetness.

3️⃣ Smooth & Fudgy: Rich chocolate ganache, golden Dulce de Leche, and thick chocolate fudge.

Sure, there are dozens of other options like caramels, jellies, etc but these three always blend so seamlessly into the cake layers. When you cut into it a few hours later, every bite is a dance of flavor and texture on your tastebuds.

While you can technically pair any cake with any filling, there are a few iconic pairings that should never be separated... but we’ll save those for another post!
