World Food Day 2024 🌏🌾
Over 2.8 billion people in the world are unable to afford a healthy diet, resulting in undernutrition, nutrient deficiencies and obesity. Often, it is the less expensive foods that are unhealthy and more readily available than fresh or varied foods. At other times, people lack the information and tools they need to choose a healthy diet, or simply opt for convenience.
At Agrain, our fight against food waste is also a fight for a world where all people have access to healthy, safe, nutritious and delicious food. By upcycling spent grains, we want to show that health and nutrition can and must be a core pillar of the future of food production – and that this can be done in a sustainable way! 💪
Spent grains are packed with protein, fibre, and micronutrients that are essential to a healthy diet. Moreover, spent grain flour can be readily added into a variety of everyday staple foods – think bread rolls, pasta, sandwich bread – at a fraction of the cost of many other alternative flours or health supplements.
And because it’s upcycled, no new farmland is required to make spent grain flour. That means that for every 1kg of regular flour replaced with Agrain spent grain flour, 2m2 of land use can be saved. 🌾
is a reminder of our ultimate mission: to repair the food system by making nutritious, upcycled ingredients available for people and food producers all over the world.
♻️ Every grain counts!
