For five years, Monika and Jan made Seks feel like Copenhagen’s communal living room. Their food was inspired by recipes collected on their travels, but what made the café special was the way they welcomed people around their table and made strangers feel like family.

Seks is gone, but their story isn’t over. Their next chapter is Syv Breakfast Club, an ongoing residency at Martini House in Amager on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday mornings.

We’ve been somewhat skeptical to the new wave of affordable eateries in Copenhagen, only because it’s so easy to sacrifice quality to achieve that goal. The new w**e bar in Amager proves that it’s possible to serve tasty, well-made food at a good value. The kitchen is in the steady hands of a former Silberbauers chef.

We found LA-style smash burgers at a food truck in Sydhavn. Beefy Burger Truck is going all-in on crispy meat lace, grilled onions, American cheese, pickles, and plenty of sauce. We tried their In-N-Out-inspired OG Smash and a truffle burger stacked with three different kinds of onions. Which one would you order? 🍔👀

Is pandan the next ube?! 💚 We love this fragrant Southeast Asian ingredient, and lately we’ve been finding it all over Copenhagen – in cocktails, pastries, ice cream, restaurant desserts, and now soft serve.

At Mamak by Belanja, it comes topped with crunchy peanuts and fragrant lime oil. Creamy, nutty, floral, citrusy – and exactly the kind of dessert we want to see more of in Copenhagen.
