Yeay yeay hari raya!

After a month of fasting, which went by in the blink of an eye, really, it's time for our Muslim family and friends to celebrate Eid.

Wishing you all a blessed day no matter where you are celebrating it! 🥰

Sweets of Ramadan (some of....) from the Singapore (and Malaysian) kitchen.

Not specifically for Ramadan, but somehow you do eat a lot more sweets at break time...

Everything with rice flours, glutinous rice flour, pandan leaves, palm sugar, coconut cream, bananas, durians....

Bubur SumSum (rice pudding in palm sugar syrup) is one of the sweets that's synonymous for breaking fast in Ramadan - in Singapore anyway - and perhaps in Malaysia and Indonesia too.

We always start with something sweet to break our fast. First a date, then dessert! 😃😃

Incidentally, this tune (Ya Kareem Mu Ya Kareem) by Sheikh Sayed Naqshbandi has always accompanied our iftar. It's been played on the radio just after the call to prayers during iftar for as long as I can remember.
