Located 29 kilometers mostly west of El Carmen, Ecuador in the Andean foothills classified tropical rain forest. Located at the northern hills of the Andes Mountains in northern Ecuador, La Vigia is a diverse farming operation consisting of a little over 15 hectares. r 1,000 ft. mean sea level, looking to the east, reveals a wide panorama of lush green jungle broken up by developed agriculture. At the base of our mountain we have a bamboo forest, year round spring fed stream, and a beautiful jungle pond fed from a 25 ft. Wildlife abounds, from exotic birds, monkeys, untamed cats, and at certain times of year large colorful butterflies and moths. We're a diversified small farm operation growing balsa, banana, cacao, mandarina, and various fruit trees. In addition we have a growing herd of cows, chickens and pigs. Construction is underway for a guest house, followed by a farm style house to replace our current old and deteriorating dwelling and then development of the lower half of the property into a recreation area for campers, weekenders, and educational agricultural instruction.
