Rural tourism services and sustainable ranch located on San Cristobal in the Galápagos Islands.

Hacienda Tranquila´s objective is to reverse the negative impact of introduced plant species by restoring native and endemic forests in La Soledad, a small, rural community in San Cristobal, Galapagos. Volunteers work with the Hacienda Tranquila team to monitor plant species that have been introduced to the area and encourage community members to plant native species in their gardens. Volunteers a

La Hacienda Tranquila tiene como objetivo principal el de revertir los impactos causados por las especies introducidas de vegetación, restaurando los bosques nativos y endémicos en el sector de La Soledad, una comunidad pequeña en San Cristobal, Galapagos. Los voluntarios trabajan junto al equipo de la Hacienda Tranquila en monitoreo de plantas introducidas en la zona e incentivan a la gente a sembrar vegetación local en sus jardines. Los voluntarios también colaboran en proyectos comunitario para el desarrollo sustentable del área rural.

Last week, we had the University of Oregon and University of San Francisco Quito on the farm for a series of workshops and community gatherings. On the first day, while the students were out on the hacienda learning what we do here, Carmen, Pepe, and our volunteer Abbott were preparing a fresh farm to table meal for the group. Being able to create a meal with ingredients from the farm is so special and important. We are able to highlight local flavors and share that with visitors through nutritious and delicious food.
