You’ll never be free until you realize this.
It was never about what they think.
It was always about whether you listened to yourself.
We spend so much of life chasing approval, fitting into shapes that were never ours, walking paths paved by other people’s expectations.
But have you noticed? The more you chase what pleases them, the further you drift from what fulfills you.
The universe gave you a compass… not in your pocket, but in your chest. Your intuition is the echo of the cosmos whispering through you, and yet, how often do we trust our fear more than the quiet knowing?
Do not fear walking alone.
Do not fear growing alone.
To stand in your own light is to remember the truth. Those who are meant for your journey will find you as you find them.

To all women:
… yearning to be mothers
… who are new mothers
… grieving the loss of children
… raising their children alone
… who have lost their mothers
… who lost themselves in motherhood
… who worry that they are enough
… who are struggling
To all the mothers, of every kind:
I hope today is soft, healing, and slow.
I hope today is a beautiful day. 💚
Happy Mother’s Day 🌺

The Podocarpus National Park in Zamora is an absolutely magical place. We had the most beautiful day here, celebrating Emmett’s birthday. He was definitely in his element, diving into waterfalls and swimming in the gorgeous green river water. I don’t think he ever stopped smiling.
I will always cherish these memories.

Emmett Sullivan is 14 today 💚 I really can’t wrap my mind around the fact that it’s been 14 whole years since he surprised us by insisting on coming into this world 6 weeks early, with little warning. I feel like he has been an adventurer since his very first day on this planet. 🌎
Emmett enjoys nothing more than exploring new places and letting loose in nature, so today we are doing exactly that. We are going to spend the whole day hiking. Wild water and waterfalls have always been his very favorite things, so I’m pleased that we will get to hike to not one, not two, but THREE different waterfalls together today. 🫶🏻
I hope his day is everything that he wants it to be… he deserves it. A classic middle child, he has always been the most go-with-the-flow, easy going, kind, and understanding kid. He always wakes up with a smile on his face, and very little bothers him. He makes my world better simply by existing in it.
Happy birthday, Emmett Sullivan! 🥳
Here’s to many more adventures together! 🎉

We are currently in Zamora, Ecuador celebrating Emmett’s birthday. Experiences and memories over gifts! 🫶🏻 I cannot believe today is Emmett’s last day as a 13 year old.
Zamora is on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, so the humidity here reminds me of Florida… but it is a really interesting city to explore. We’ve already eaten plenty of great (and cheap!) food, and I love all of the fun little photo opportunities.

A restaurant review by Forrest Grey, age 10:

“The place is really cool. It’s very beautiful on the inside. I love how you get some appetizers without even asking. Very delicious food. I loved my butter chicken! The naan was phenomenal. The Moscow Mule mocktail was delicious. I really like how at first we kind of rejected the desserts, but then he offered them on the house. I mean, would you reject on the house desserts? The desserts were superior.
I really liked this restaurant!
5 out of 5 stars.” ⭐️

We made it to Cuenca today, just before it started hailing, and then tried out an Indian restaurant called Mantraa, where we ate way too much food. Poppy was a little skeptical, but everyone in my family LOVES indian food. We left super full and sleepy, as it should be. Our first meal in Cuenca was a success! ☺️

My dad and Michelle are currently here in Ecuador, visiting us. It is their first trip to South America. We spent our last day together in Vilcabamba by hiking to the top of a mountain in Quinara. The ruinas de Quinara trail is full of fun surprises, like caves and very friendly goats. Usually Quinara is extremely hot and dry, but we got lucky with a cool, cloudy day. At the top, we did a yoga and twerking class, because our friends are just awesome like that.
After hiking down, the owner of the farm enthusiastically served us pitchers of tamarind and sugarcane juice to share while she regalled us with ghost stories about how the gold in the mountains is protected. She is convinced that “fantasmas” or dwarf spirits that can be felt, but usually not seen, scare away anyone who tries to remove the gold from the mountain. She repeatedly told us that since her family was not interested in mining for gold, they were protected. Apparently, even fantasmas knocking on her windows at night don’t scare her, and quietly disappear once she shoos them away. She proudly showed us artifacts her family found in the process of making the trails, such as a petrified heart, pieces of ancient pottery, and primitive tools. Listening to her animated stories made my day, along with many smiles and laughs with our friends and family. This trail is defintely worth trekking, if you’re in the area.
What a lovely day 💚

Happy International Women’s Day from me and some of the uplifting, authentic women in my life here in Ecuador. We went to a sparkle party recently and had an absolute blast twirling around on the dance floor. Raise your hand if you think every party should have a sparkle station 🙋🏼‍♀️.
