Who would have thought I'd be rugging horses in Egypt? These two older ladies have improved no end since they got their smart winter jackets. Absolutely worth lugging them over here from UK.

The old ladies decided a gentle stroll through the locale might be pleasant, and indeed it mainly was! Dahab, our senior mare. who is in the region of 25 to 27 years old, loves a wander at her own pace, stopping for a little look around when she feels like it. Now I'm a lot lighter, she's happy with me on board too!

People often ask what we grow here in the farm. The short answer is, what will feed who or what ever lives here. We have never produced a cash crop, preferring to make sure that we use our land to produce clean food for both the humans and the livestock that we share the place with. Mashi crump, anybody? 😁

I don't know why, but there is something very special about our bovine family members...🥰 Especially Mabruka, the young buffalo, who we've had since she was a month old. I just love that girl...and she is quite fond of me too 😍😍😍

It's always a surprise to the uninitiated that horses in Egypt tend to be in better condition in the winter, or at least that has been my experience over the years. Probably explained by the fact the the annual clover crop is in season during winter, which is way more suited to horses than the fibrous Sudanese grass we have in summer. The girls have all put on weight and are looking much better!

Back to the farm today, to the really sad news that Bobby died about 10 days ago, possibly from a snake bite. He was such a loving protective dog for the kids....and so joyful

The chicken chicks are now accommodated in a dog travel crate and seem rather happy 🥰

So the duck hatched 6 chicken chicks and then got off the rest of the eggs to look after the hatched chicks.....so I had to take the chicken chicks away hoping she would get back on the unhatched, mainly duck eggs, which she did! Meanwhile the chicken is sitting on chicken eggs but the ducks keep trying to slip one of theirs under her.....
Who'd have thought poultry could get this complicated....😁😁😁😁😁
