Behind every successful business is a strong foundation of skills, knowledge, and continuous learning.

As part of our ongoing partnership with Orange Corners Egypt and in celebration of World Youth Skills Day, we hosted a virtual Supply Chain Masterclass for more than 90 entrepreneurs from across the Delta and Upper Egypt.

The session offered a unique opportunity for participants to learn directly from ABC's supply chain experts, exchange ideas, and gain practical insights into building resilient businesses in an increasingly dynamic environment.

At ABC, we're committed to supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs not only through partnership and collaboration, but also through sharing the expertise, experiences, and lessons that help businesses grow and succeed.

Here's to the innovators, changemakers, and business leaders shaping the future. 🚀

Hekayet Haba – A Grain Story | Episode 4 🌾

Where the journey comes full circle.

From the fields of East Oweinat, through the malt plant, the story of every grain reaches its final stage at ABC’s Sharkia plant, where locally grown barley is transformed into 100% Egyptian malt beverages like Fayrouz and Birell.

In this episode, Walid Samara and Ahmed El Sayed take us inside the final steps of the process, walking us through the six stages of production, from processing to packaging, where quality, precision, and consistency ensure every product reaches millions of Egyptian homes.

It’s here that everything comes together! Decades of agricultural development, continuous innovation, and an integrated value chain built on Egyptian land, powered by Egyptian expertise.

From a single grain… to a finished product made in Egypt, for Egypt.

And while this marks the final chapter of Hekayet Haba – A Grain Story, the journey doesn’t end here. Because every bottle, every can, and every product carries that story forward into everyday moments, and into homes across the country.

A story of resilience. A story of local impact.
A story that continues with every grain. 🌾

Hekayet Haba – A Grain Story | Episode 3 🌾

The journey continues beyond the field.

From East Oweinat, the story of every grain moves to where transformation happens. At ABC’s malt plant in 6th of October, locally grown barley takes its next step becoming high-quality malt that serves both local and regional markets.

Established in 2005, the plant stands as the first and only facility of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa — a critical link between agricultural production and industrial output.

In this episode, Anthony Hanna takes us inside the process, showing how locally grown barley is transformed into high-quality malt that meets global benchmarks through a combination of advanced technology, precision, and consistent quality standards.

With around 40% of malt production exported, the plant reflects how local sourcing can scale into a competitive, export-driven model.

We also hear from Hossam Adel, who takes us back to where it all began, over 80 years ago with just 50 feddans in Minya Governorate, and how this journey has grown into today’s integrated, large-scale partnership built on research, innovation, and continuous development of barley varieties.

Because the story doesn’t end at harvest,
it evolves, step by step, into something bigger.

Stay tuned to see how Hekayet Haba reaches its final chapter. 🌾

Hekayet Haba – A Grain Story | Episode 2 🌾

From the field to long-term value.

In this episode, we go beyond the harvest to explore how sustainability is embedded into every step of the journey, shaping not only how barley is grown, but how the business is built for the future.

Through the voices of Cherine Aidarous and Heather Turner, we see how an integrated model connects environmental responsibility with long-term resilience and value creation.

At ABC, sustainability is not a standalone initiative, it’s part of how we operate every day. From improving water efficiency and reducing carbon footprint at the source, to building a fully local barley ecosystem that strengthens supply chains and supports national priorities.

Today, this approach delivers tangible impact saving around 530,000 cubic meters of water annually through smarter agricultural practices, while reinforcing a model designed for long-term stability and sustainable growth.

And with 100% locally cultivated barley and over 90% locally sourced raw materials, it’s a system built on certainty, efficiency, and resilience across the entire value chain.

Because every grain carries more than a story—it carries a responsibility.

Stay tuned to see where Hekayet Haba goes next. 🌾

Hekayet Haba – A Grain Story | Episode 1 🌾
A new chapter begins in the field.

In East Oweinat, the 2026 barley harvest marks the starting point of a much bigger journey—one built over decades of collaboration between science, agriculture, and industry.

Through the Sustainable Barley Cultivation Program, this integrated model brings together the Agricultural Research Center, Sahara Egypt Group, and Al Ahram Beverages Company (ABC) to grow barley that meets global standards, right here in Egypt.

Today, this journey translates into real impact!
100% locally grown barley, over 90% of raw materials sourced locally, and a system designed to strengthen more resilient local value chains.

In this first episode, we hear from Nikolay Mladenov, Dr. Maher El Maghraby, and Mr. Mohamed Abd Ellah, who bring to life the vision behind this partnership—and what it takes to build a model that starts from the land and grows into a finished product.

This is where every grain begins its story.
Stay tuned to discover where Hekayet Haba takes us next. 🌾
